I wonder why he's flipping now? Did he think that he could weasel out of this somehow? Get out on a mistrial perhaps or something? Was he stupid and think that the FBI wouldn't do their homework or that he could destroy everything that they could find?
Only think I can think of is that he thought he could get out of this, or get off lightly, and now the fact that he could very well be facing many decades in prison on top of the 7 years currently, meaning that he would die in prison, is finally sinking in.
Facing sentencing on 8 counts that could easily mean the rest of your mortal life in prison has a way of bringing people back to earth and sobering them up. Especially when this is how his own daughter described him in texts to her friends:
This is pure sport. He is a power hungry egomaniac. Yes. He is loving it. Conclusively. Him and trump are perfect allies for this agenda. It’s so weird he is my dad.
Another stupid greedy rich guy who thinks he's invincible and consequences are for other people, until he suddenly isn't and they suddenly aren't. Also, Trump has been told that pardoning Manafort is politically problematic, so he's unlikely to get the Joe Arpaio treatment, and he may have realized it himself.
I feel sick every time I'm reminded of that fucking pardon.
