Imagine Animals like Gorillas and Elephants being friendly with Humans like this, an Elephant wagging it's tale when a Human is about.
Hopefully the Elephant would be aware of it's massive size in comparison to a Human however.
How about not breeding them to be like dogs and just accept that they are (friendly) foxes.

That's exactly what they're doing, as they are trying to find the genes that cause the behavioural differences in wild vs domesticated animals.
No doubt if Fox's had the amount of time that Wolves had to become dogs, we would be there by now. It's cool to see that it mostly is the same.
