I like their "we wanted to make a space ship game, but everybody was making space ship games except they all sucked so now we're doing it right."
Looks super fun. I’ve always liked the concept of these space games but I’ve always hated the “grind for ten hours before getting anything remotely useful” aspects, so hopefully this is a bit more streamlined.
You can also order a 3D print of your customized ships.
First rebel galaxy was an absolute blast. Never knew they were making a sequel.
Rebel galaxy is basically freelancer but stuck on a 2d plane. The game is extremely streamlined compared to say the X series.
I quite enjoyed the first Rebel Galaxy, didn't know they were working on a new one. Great soundtrack too.
The more space games the better.
I couldn't quite get into the first one, I wanted to but I just didn't click with the combat on a 2d plane. This one is looking great so far though.
I played the first for like 10 hours in the first system. Then I moved to the second system and all my top tier upgrades I spent hours hauling medical supplies for were torn to shreds by the first enemies I found.
I should give it a second chance.
This looks amazing. I hope they can add a VR display option at some point.
Rebel Galaxy's 3d-but-2d was really off-putting. It'd have made more sense as a top-down game (Flatspace II was good fun back in the day). Is that aspect totally gone from this, or is it "Everything's on a 2d plane but you can go up and down a bit now"? I'd be really disappointed if it were anything but full 6DOF especially cause everything here looks so much cooler than RG1 - if everything BUT ships is on a 2d plane like Freelancer then no big deal.
I watched the video, it looks like full axis movement. A traditional space sim.
Let's hope this one isn't as incredibly dull and repetitive as the original.
Looks great. Kinda wish you could make your own character, but ah well.
Looks interesting. Hope it has plenty of content.
Looks like Privateer, I'm interested.
I absolutely love the atmosphere of this game. It just oozes personality. The small details too, like changing the radio during a commercial break has your character say "I need some music to listen to", or "Oh come on!" when you ram another ship. Also interested in the auto-pursue feature because the type of jousting he talked about is largely why I find combat in games like Elite Dangerous so dull after awhile.
i do enjoy the space western vibes (a sad scarcity if you ask me) i might pick this up.
and i'm not the only one who'll pin-up model on the side their ship am i?
Yeah after watching the whole thing that's pretty clear. The one real remaining question I have is whether it'll have/allow you (and hopefully NPCs) to take advantage of newtonian physics, where you can disable "assists" to orient your ship independent of its flightpath like in Freelancer and such. That's one of the simplest ways to break up the monotony of said "Jousting"
I loved the first game, and this one looks pretty awesome. Looking forward to trying it out.
the naval combat of the first game was really neat, but it did get very dull since every ship fought the same way. it was definitely a unique take on space combat, but it really needed variety. while i doubt they'd do it, i think it'd be neat if they had both styles of combat in this one. naval combat for huge battleships, and then the standard cockpit combat for smaller, personal ships
I wonder if they'll have anything bigger than the Blackgate in this one, or if it'll even return.
