Because of their massive idiocy the NRA honestly feels like better anti-gun propaganda than any actual anti-gun propaganda out there
That's entirely beside this of course, I don't even see what kind of grand point they wanted to make. It's just a dumb kids show, there are far bigger fish to fry my dudes. They just want the show to better reflect modern racial diversity.
That's how I feel as a gun owner more or less. Anti-gun hate my guts and want me punished, NRA ads are so fucking terrible that they just fuel the former.
They need to hire a new media team, holy shit, all they do is overshadow their accomplishments with these stupid videos and ads because in the public eye this is now what the NRA represents which is a shame because it really isn't representative at all.
I know the NRA has gone off the deep end lately, but can we have a source that isn’t CNN?
The NRA are so insane, they can't even do basic word association anymore. When a kids show becomes more diverse, what sense does it make to depict the characters as part of a group who strive for ethnic heterogeneity? Is this about fearmongering Alex Jones tier bullshit like "diversity = extermination of the white man" and that means they're all the same in that they're all different? What is wrong with these people?
The goal isn't to manufacture quality outrage, it's to maintain the social atmosphere in which the political Right are victims of liberal outrage. As long as you can saturate the media at all times with "liberal tears" and "liberal outrage", their followers can keep living in their bubble.
What are they even trying to say here? "This show's trying not to be racist, so that makes it more racist than our actual attempts to be racist."
They were trying to sarcastically imply that the show was trying to force “diversity” onto the existing cast to generate outrage like the dumpster fire which was the Ghostbusters reboot. But to my knowledge, the show has always had a diverse cast with several episodes introducing new characters from different backgrounds, sometimes for just a single episode.
Point is Thomas has almost as many characters as Touhou, so the whole “forced diversity” angle is absolutely pants on head retarded.
ya but as long as their checks clear GOP lawmakers will stand lock step behind them
Praise Jesus for the NRA, the only people brave enough to stand up to those darn trains.
You know what's really offensive? That they dropped physical sets entirely. The whole show now uses butt-ugly cgi with nightmare inducing animated train faces. I guarantee you they did it to save money too. All the kids shows are going in that direction - even fucking PBS kids. The later seasons of Cyberchase and Arthur went from traditional hand drawn animation to adobe flash, and it also looks like dogshit.
Seriously, just look how great the old show looks in comparison to the new one:

I feel I should say, as somebody whose position on gun control is pretty anti-gun, but has softened a lot since talking to you lovely people on FP: you're absolutely right. The NRA gives American gun owners a bad name and I don't feel it represents the vast majority of you effectively.
This story is absolutely insane, and has nothing to do with guns either. They're so transparent in the fact that they're purely a right wing organisation.
The only merit I give to outcry over this latest Thomas diversity thing is that they've shifted the classic characters Edward and Henry out of the main roster to make way for the new guys. Disappointing, but the show producers are promising they aren't dropping the characters entirely, so it isn't that bad there. NRA is taking this stupidly as usual.
Still, apparently the show's brought in a crapton further changes (shorter episodes, even more emphasis on moral lessons, dropping the omniscent narrator schtick in place of having Thomas himself narrate everything), but since my following of the Thomas franchise is passing at best these days, I don't really care (even the thing with the models, @CyclonatorZ . I was peeved when they started it by animating faces over the models and starting the slippery slope, but by now I'm just rolling with it, to relent to a pun).
How dare they commit slander against my cute boy in top hat

He's a dream
NRA should focus on gun rights and not these stupid political videos
Goddamn crackheads down the road make more sense than the NRA.
They fucking ruin anything they touch, they shouldn't focus on anything.
I wonder if there was any backlash when John Stewart was introduced as the green lantern.
This further confirms my belief that the NRA has lost their god damn minds.
Shut the fuck up about irrelevant partisan bullshit. Shut the fuck up about absolute nonsense like this crap. Go back to bipartisanship, go back to the emphasis on safety and training programs. Quit inserting yourself into conversations that have absolutely nothing to do with gun rights. Quit diving into the cesspool that is far-right identity politics. Not only are you coating yourself in shit, you're splattering shit all over me, the moderate-left gun owner.
Fuck the NRA.
The NRA probably wont backtrack this stuff until almost all of their current management are replaced tbh. They're a lobbying group first and foremost, which means they need money to lobby with. A great way of ensuring you have money is targeting rabid fanbases. This kind of bullshit panders to a certain sector of gun owners who genuinely think things like diversity are a problem, and if they see the NRA pushing their views they'll be happier to fund the NRA via donations and such.
There's almost zero reason for them to consider not doing this kind of stuff because it's a damn good tool that appeals to a dedicated base. Even if it is objectively the dumbest fucking move they could make from a mass support standpoint. But mass support isn't important when you're lobbying, brainless donations are.
But it literally is, this is their official channel and the fact that they haven't been fired means the NRA is ok with this being their message
Honestly, as sad as it is, I can kind of understand why they'd do that for Thomas specifically. Arthur and Cyberchase not so much, but running model railroads with some stop motion animation is a rather costly way of making a show. It's definitely sad to see it go though, kills off so much of the character the original Thomas had that got me into model railroading and scale models in the first place.
NRA TV depicts 'Thomas & Friends' characters in KKK hoods
kids show now bringing gender and ethnic diversity
and this is bad, why exactly?
Then they should focus on the Trump administration.
I'm anti-gun and I don't hate any gun owners' guts. We can disagree and still be nice to each other.
THEY'RE TURNING THE TRAINS GAY!!!!!
The NRA is a far right militia group currently run by a disgraced ex-Marine officer who was discharged for treason. Honestly this is a really confused metaphor they're making here since the majority of their target audience see nothing wrong with the KKK.
that already ruined itself
The NRA is not a militia group.
