Oh actually no, It did play important role but also with Cultural and Liturgical reasons to split from them (soon later as Today as Roman/Latin Catholics).

But however, I think this very possible new Orthodox schism will make some Russian Old Believers finally happy as they want them to split because their reason split off was that Russian Orthodox Church try reconnected with Main Church through reforms were see it was Anti-Muscovy.
