It's a twelve-episode crime drama with sci-fi elements that follows the story of two protagonists, Keith Flick, a legendary detective with a personal vendetta, and Koku, a serial killer known by his signature - a distinctive B with four scratches he carves into every one of his crime scenes. The series is directed by Kazuto Nakazawa AKA Takeshi Tsuji. The animation team includes some of those who worked on the Animatrix. The soundtrack is awesome, the pacing is very good, and the voice acting, both in Japanese and English, are incredible. I recommend the dub, personally. The translation just feels better and the actors nail it. This show is great! the supernatural half of the story can be a bit offputting compared to the mystery stuff but the production values easily make up for it. The directing is so much better than other anime, it has a real sense of depth in scenes, like a well shot live action film more than a cartoon.
Yeah, the supernatural angle felt a little off at first. I thought the way the ending came together so nicely made up for it, though. It felt almost like there were two complete stories that appealed to different tastes, tied together wonderfully.
