Damn, hardcore. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-mPnmfrm6I
"Their bodies are extremely fragile and melt rapidly when brought to the surface," Linley said.

Unrelated to article but could I have the source to your profile transparent background?

I reverse image searched it but found nothing useful. Apparently it's a character from MGS.
Right click and view source?
I already did that, although that's a very inefficient way of doing it. I used the developer tools and inspected the element, hence me being able to post the image for his consumption. You're a bit late, mate.
I meant view background image, whoops https://i.imgur.com/Xutzq9j.png https://i.imgur.com/dskXlP6.png
In fact, being made almost entirely of a gel-like substance, the fish would die without the crushing pressure holding them together. So anatomically are they just a hard skeleton and some organs rendered in biological jello only maintaining its shape from the crazy pressure? Goo fish!
The only thing preventing their bodies from exploding is the crushing pressure which would kill most species that live on or near the surface. That’s pretty hardcore
The only thing preventing my body from imploding is the gentle pressure which would kill most species that live in or near the abyss. That's pretty hardcore.
Surface-level pressure is too fucking casual, they attempt to defeat it via self-immolation
Well, theoretically you could bring them up just by keeping them in a pressure chamber. They've evolved to survive exclusively in the crushing depths.
