https://www.newsweek.com/ted-cruz-beto-orourke-texas-election-midterms-letters-1123146 While the letter inside the envelope was a donation form for the Cruz campaign, there was some fear that some voters might be confused by the mailer and believe that they were required by law to pay a fee. “Received this for my 88-year-old grandma,” wrote Sean Owen of Austin on Twitter. “Says it's a summons from Travis County, but is actually asking for money for Ted Cruz. Did your campaign authorize this? Is this even legal? Shame on you.” This is not the first time Cruz has sent misleading mail to voters. In the 2016 presidential primaries, the Cruz campaign sent Iowa voters a letter that read “VOTING VIOLATION” in red font. Below the warning was an explanation.
And I thought those "immediate response required" envelopes were bad.
Turns out this shit is legal btw. Someone should get on that.
I could almost swear he pulled this same exact shit during the Republican primary too, did he not?
This is not the first time Cruz has sent misleading mail to voters. In the 2016 presidential primaries, the Cruz campaign sent Iowa voters a letter that read “VOTING VIOLATION” in red font. Below the warning was an explanation. “You are receiving this election notice because of low expected voter turnout in your area,” it read. “Your individual voting history as well as your neighbors’ are public record. Their scores are published below, and many of them will see your score as well. CAUCUS ON MONDAY TO IMPROVE YOUR SCORE and please encourage your neighbors to caucus as well. A follow-up notice may be issued following Monday’s caucuses.” Dafuq? Cruz is a fucking liar, everyone knows ballots are secret.
Yep, he literally did virtually exactly this during the primaries lol
I'm surprised this isn't mail fraud
Please Texans, try to get people to vote Beto, Cruz is a slimeball. If Jones can win Beto can
Fraudsters belong in jail
im glad they're consciously aware that they're just villains now
Man, Ted is getting desperate now.
Doing something like this out of desperation would at least be somewhat understandable. The difference is that this is not desperation, it's standard operating procedure with these people. Scum of the earth.
Good ole’ Lyin’ Ted doing what he does best
Cruz’s Democratic contender, Congressman Beto O’Rourke of El Paso, has raised $23,332,950 to Cruz’s $23,365,835 and trails the incumbent senator by about three points in recent polling. Unlike Cruz, O’Rourke does not accept donations from political action committees or corporations. Beto make 30K less than Cruz with no PACs
It really shows you their view of their constituents when they are relying on gullibility to get donations.

You're saying a lot about yourself when you need to trick people into supporting you.
Well shit, glad I'm wrong about that then. I read in an article that they apparently did the research and concluded it's unethical but legal, so I kinda just parroted that idea. Thank god.
shut it down, candidates that willfully break the law as egregiously as this should have to face real, campaign ending consequences instead of a fine after they've been elected.
Holy shit this is borderline coercion. "EVERYONE can see who you vote for, now vote for ME."
In a democracy where cheating is not sufficiently punished, only cheaters will win and the democracy will fail. If this works, get ready for every Republican politician who wins a primary to start abusing these methods.
Ted Cruz is the most insufferable sleazeball in Congress. Our country would be vastly better off without him.
I hope Cruz loses and throws a Roy Moore-tier tantrum.
That tweet says only someone who had this in the mail or the Attorney General of Texas can sue, this is the Attorney General of Texas You can thank Grade A asshole Ken Paxton (our state attorney general) for the lawsuit that delayed the AC installation. (and only really for "medically sensitive" individuals predisposed to heatstroke) He fought tooth and nail to keep ACs out of prisons that already had cases of heatstroke deaths due to the fact that our summers regularly get above 106F (41C). He's also one of the big anti-LGBT politicians that pushed to revoke the ability of transgender individuals to use restrooms of their identified gender in schools, blocked climate change research at the behest of ExxonMobil, pushed for open carry on campuses, thinks there is a "war on Christianity" in the education system, is against overtime pay for low income workers, defended gerrymandered districts in Texas, and he's been indicted on multiple fraud charges but has successfully delayed the trials multiple times to stay in power, and this is our state attorney general. He's literally scum of the earth. Just look at this fucker. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/114655/9a872ba5-89f5-4608-9c24-95725dae9fba/image.png s
It looks like one of his eyes is trying to nervously look away in shame of how much of an asshole the rest of him is.
Burn the Republican party to the ground.
Republicans are also still running their voter suppression calls in Iowa. I've gotten several trying to tell me that there's an issue with our polling station and if we vote there it won't count. Real fucking class acts these repubes.
time to post my favorite Ted Cruz thing: https://youtu.be/SFGbxVGKdXc
