The only fun I can have on rust are on dead servers with only like 10 people online. On these servers I can get 50-70fps. I would like to play on bigger servers such as some of the Reddit ones or rustafied but my game stutters so bad that at some points even my audio sometimes starts spazing out. If I stand still I can get 60 fps but once I start sprinting, farming, or doing anything my game freezes and stutters to a consistent 5-10 fps until I stop moving and let my game cool down. My ping is fine it's usually in the 30s. I have even gone through a 30min tutorial on youtube to optimize rust and my PC (based on my specs) but it hasn't helped very much.
Enough ranting, my specs:
CPU:AMD-fx6300
GPU: GTX 1050 Ti
RAM: 8gb (DDR3)
Windows 10 64-bit
I really don't want to buy a new pc unless I have to so would adding RAM help?
It would always help, but you should be able to play Rust decently with your current specs.
Windows would take up a good portion of your RAM anyways with just 8GB + Rust. Definitely want to get some more RAM if you can.
Ok thanks! Just also found out I was accidentally updating PUBG while playing rust yesterday so that prob had an effect
