Lol at people who are going to get upset about this. Even though everyone knew for years and joked about it.
Wasn't this confirmed ages ago??

That's actually a really good interview, insightful and interesting.

In those outfits? No way two gay men who have such a terrible sense of fashion.

I related to Bert and Enrie's angst towards as apart of my sibling rivalry. Now I'm told it was sibling love, oh no.....
Not just them, but also the classical liberals who are surely in the process of shitting out the next "SJW's taking over the world" video
Remember one of my favourite tv-shows discuss the relationship between the two back when I was a kid. Where they brothers? were they gay? were they just roommates? Someone ended the discussion by saying; "Bert and Ernie, they're just two puppets."

I mean it would do a lot of good for a lot of children out there, who may grow up to be queer have grown up with proper representation, but no, that's alright, blatantly avoiding that is fine, too.
I can't be the only one creeped out that people are clamoring to know the sexuality of children's entertainment characters, even in jest
They even added a Muppet with autism last year
Clamoring, no, and it does get creepy if you solely focus on it being their sexuality, rather than the idea of having a queer couple in a children's show; representation of a same-sex relationship.
I think it's fine to teach kids from early that not every relationship has to depend on sexual orientations, either way. Two men can live together, like each other a lot and not necessarily be gay.
Frank Oz's take: https://twitter.com/TheFrankOzJam/status/1042118820142436352 To be honest the first conversation here sort of disgusts me. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/129/b9dde2f1-9fdf-4cd0-99ba-e6cf6d0da9c9/image.png
He didn't take away anything; there was never anything there. You can interpret the characters however you want but when the creator of them says "no they're not gay", and you're upset by it, all you're saying is "I want you to lie to me or at least let me live in ignorance of the truth"
afaik there have been muppets which have been married before: http://muppet.wikia.com/wiki/Weddings And Miss Piggy is always after that Frog dick. So it's not entirely fair to say that muppets don't have sexual orientations when there have been explicit or implied heterosexual relationships. Though I suppose you could go further and say "muppets don't have genitals; they do not have sex; therefore their attractions are not sexual in nature". However then you still can't deny that if Miss piggy can love kermit, then Bert can love Ernie. I'm not saying they HAVE to be gay, but based off of the characters created before, it's within the realm of possibility
I always find it weird how militant people are about such trivial matters. You don't see Ridley Scott in the fetal position because nobody except him believes Deckard is a replicant. If you can't deal with having a personal interpretation and knowing the creators' intentions at the same time, then you can't deal with media. For my take, I always thought of Ernie and Bernie (as I used to call them for some reason) as brothers. Honestly, even then it didn't make much sense because they didn't look similar enough to be siblings but I didn't know how to otherwise rationalize them living together at the time.
oh cool twitter has reached 2013 tumblr hellsite status
I don't like them putting chemicals in the water that turn the friggin' puppets gay!
Shipping culture is the absolute worst. Apparently two men can never be into each other and also straight - not even if they're related (Supernatural fandom says hi).
Well as a kid feeling like a freak not understanding why you like boys when you're supposed to like girls, I'm pretty sure having some characters on the shows you watch to relate to would be a help
tbh the lesson of "being gay is normal and acceptable" is a lot more important than "you can be roommates while not being lovers."
Considering 'muppet' is a term for stupid in the UK, that's offensive.
i don't really think anyone's in the right in that twitter argument but oz could've 100% phrased his first tweet better. saying 'they're not, of course', in such a matter-of-fact-ly way, and then completely misunderstanding why people see them as gay - thinking that they're only defined by their sexuality - i could definitely see how to some people that could come of as kinda homophobic. i mean, it's never been clearly stated in the show (AFAIK) and until then i think people have every right to see their relationship as whatever they want it to be.
