For myself I can't tell, can you people recommend me some good horror films?
At the moment, Mandy is probably the best out there Why? Because https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/716/6e25c619-78af-44b2-b0e7-dcb92c3b397a/18y;09mo;14dy - 11hr;58mi;34s;758ms - 256W x 512H.jpg It's surreal, funny, tense, and builds into a bloodbath. Slow at deliberate at first and ending gloriously. For older films, Evil Dead 1 and 2 plus Army of Darkness is practically foundational for all horror. Same goes for Fri 13th, Nightmare on Elm street, and Alien.
Horror is such a broad and diverse genre, I don't think I can really pick a favorite. I can give you some recommendations though: John Carpenter's The Thing is always a great watch and in my opinion a masterpiece of horror. Check it out if you haven't seen it. The Void (from 2016) is heavily inspired by The Thing in it's creature design and practical effects and I liked it a lot, too. Jacob's Ladder is pretty damn good too, especially if you're more into psychological horror. It was one of the main inspirations for Silent Hill, so yeah. The classic Dario Argento films are also pretty nice. Suspiria, Inferno and Phenomena are my favorites by him and they all share that weird dreamlike / nightmarish atmosphere. His other older movies are more Giallo than horror, but they can still be pretty creepy. I liked Deep Red a lot and I think you can just watch it on YT for free. If you don't mind reading subtitles, check out the original Ringu, Ju-On, The Eye and A Tale Of Two Sisters. Asian horror films from like the 90s and 2000s, basically. They're all pretty good.
Tbh, hell, anything 80's and early 90's Even if its a low rating film, close your eyes and throw a dart. You can't get something as awful as you get with todays, well, yeah.
One of the most creative and fun horror movies ever created. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/230956/7d5ad2d5-8163-4b9d-8d9a-f9d8ff899dbc/image.png
Might be clichè to say, but the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre is basically perfect.

It also has an absolutely kickass soundtrack like this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M7eAYtHA3wM I'm going to recommend just newer/obscure horror films, as Nightmare on Elm Street is always going to be my favourite. Under the Shadow was great too, as it's not just very creepy in places and actually made me jump for once, but also has something interesting to say about the cultural revolution in Iran. The concept of having massive danger outside, in the country, and a supernatural horror inside, was a stroke of genius. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHVFP80Upxw
