And 2002 too.

Sounds cool, it will be interesting to contrast whatever this comes up with against black mirror.
Twilight Zone, The Outer Limits, and The Outer Limits.
Here’s hoping it doesn’t suck. The original Serling episodes are still so fucking good
The Twilight Zone is so incredibly 50s-60s that I REALLY don't think you can create a modern day version and have it work on any level. All the parts of the twilight zone that make it worth watching will inevitably be removed because they're full of a 60s jank that can't be recaptured.
Not really. If anything, The Black Mirror proves that wrong. It’s not the “60s jank” that made it worth watching. It’s in there, to be sure, but it’s the quality writing and interesting, if implausible, scenarios that were frequently explored that made it interesting.
The first episode is such an interesting look into the perils of isolation and at the same time, a commentary at the dangers facing people exploring the universe that must have been so revolutionary at the time.
Even an episode like “Deathshead Revisited” could be a Black Mirror script with a couple tweaks and updates and is a powerful look into the horrors of the Holocaust and a commentary why places like Auschwitz and Buchenwald must never be forgotten.
I think that every now and then a show like this where it's an episodic "What if X?" show comes to speculate on questions of the time. There was the X-Minus One radio drama from 1955 to 1958s, the Twilight Zone from 1958 to 1964, The Outer Limits from 1963 to 1965, Night Gallery from 1969 to 1973, The X-Files from 1993 to 2002, and Black Mirror recently. That's not including other similar shows or reboots of these shows.
I think a new Twilight Zone could work if they don't try to recreate the old show and try to capture the atmosphere of the show with new stories.
I fully expect them to remake some of the more classic episodes, maybe with a slight modern spin on the situation, like “Time Enough at Last” but without it being nuclear war or whatever.
Yes, Black Mirror proves that you can make a show inspired by the Twilight Zone and make it work. But Black Mirror is not a reboot of the twilight zone. It's a very different show from The Twilight Zone, and I watch it for very different reasons. There's similarities, but it's not presenting itself as The Twilight Zone. It has its own identity. A reboot of the Twilight Zone fundementally is basing itself on the identity and feel of the twilight zone, and the identity and feel of the twilight zone is something that I don't think can be recreated effectively in modern day. If you want to make something that is just an episodic sci fi show that explores interesting scenarios, WITHOUT the 60s jank, then you've haven't made a reboot of the twilight zone, you've made a new thing altogether, like black mirror did. Attaching the twilight zone name to it is just a cheap nostalgia cash in. What I'm saying is that if you want to do something new, do something new. Don't stick the twilight zone name on it for cynical nostalgia marketing. If you want to actually recreate the feel of the twilight zone, I'm extremely skeptical that anyone can pull it off and make it work.
