As far as I can tell, the song was taken down for being just bad, so idk if the sexual misconduct reports resurfacing was the catalyst for it.
The sexual misconduct was likely the perfect excuse to dump them more than anything else, unless someone at Capcom really somehow completely ignored it in their two years of working with the band just to make this one song.
Also though I don't have a photo to post of it, the band's own description for the song referred to Dante as "foul-mouthed and anti-hero", which after the controversy occurred and the official video was taken down from their channel, got hastily removed as if they wrote it for the wrong Dante or something without even fixing the surrounding sentence. They were pretty braggart about the song too, so they screwed up hard.
The song got taken down quickly after the perfect storm immediately following the release where it went from "wow this song is shitty" to "what the fuck the band said Dante is a 'foul mouthed anti-hero, did they use DmC as inspiration?" to "oh wow the lead singer had a sexual misconduct incident last year how did Capcom not know about this". There were a lot of reasons to take down the song but the lead singer's history was probably a pretty big part of the drive to hurry up and shove it under the rug before people started thinking Capcom is a-okay with sexual misconduct.
The thing is even if they did use DmC as a base it still doesn't fit Donte. On top of being a fucking terrible track.
Suicide Silence is peak mallcore and godawful. I hope this isn't reflective of what music will be in the game.
as bad as this song is, the idea of this being a reverse adaptive music for Dante where it start with the vocals and you need a high combo to make them go away amuses me.
Just before the video got taken down they changed the description and removed the "foul mouthed anti-hero" part
I'm wondering why they couldn't bring back Shawn Mcpherson for another song.
I still don't even understand how that band got chosen in the first place, regardless of the other issues, considering the band is like... generally considered shit in their own genre
It's like the milkshake duck meme

Except nobody loved this band to begin with
