• Quick PSA: You can now use CS:GO content for free legitimately without SRCDS

Might have been already posted BUT: Because of the way Valve implemented the new pseudo-free2play update for CS:GO, you can now download it for free straight off the store and it's already ready to mount directly into GMOD. It's got a lot of great higher-res general furniture props as well as a slew of props from other games because of how Valve got kinda lazy and ported in a bunch of shit from titles like L4D (and I think there's a few EP2 props in there as well). So uh, yeah, everyone should totally treat it as Counter Strike Source 2: The High Res Boogaloo and mount it into literally everything so we can get those sweet sweet microwave props everywhere.
Only one thing that kind of worries me is that Valve may decide that one day to remove a map from the game (RIP Vertigo), so any assets unique to it would be lost with it, unless they don't remove any of the files from the packages that is. Could be a hassle to deal with.
Vertigo's missing? Content still seems to be in the vpk's (I don't play cs:go so I wasn't aware they canned vertigo)
They don't totally take them out of the game though, I believe anyway.
Vertigo was completely removed from all gamemodes, I believe the only way you can play it now is if you join a community server with it on. Not sure if the assets and content are still in the vpks for it though.
The assets should be in there? The thing was made to watch demo footage, and considering there have been some majors on those maps, I'd assume all assets would be there.
Yeah they're definitely all there because I don't normally own full CSGO and yet I was able to fuck around with shit like the portapotty and whatnot.
Demos of old maps are not saved locally, there are multiple "compatibility" versions of maps on the workshop that valve keeps for demos so that you have the correct update for a map. One example of this is if you download a really old major demo on trail or something from like 2013, it will download the compatibility version for you and use that.
