I disagree about RtCW being the best, with its broken mandatory stealth missions, bullshit enemies and several boring levels. I do agree with Wolfenstein 2009 being criminally underrated though, Bethesda just re-release it on Steam please.
The New Colossus being the second worst?
Jesus...
Sure it has its problems, I will fully admit that, but putting it lower than Wolf 3D and Spear of Destiny is borderline insanity.
In hindsight I also think the new colossus was just kind of a bad game. It felt short and underwhelming and the decisions did not seem to matter nearly as much as the ones made in the first, both in terms of player choices and just story beats in general.
It had a worse story, worse levels, an incredibly bizarre difficulty curve and, worst of all, it felt crucially incomplete.
yeah I also watches GGG's stuff because he covers pretty much everything, but I also find myself disagreeing with his opinions quite a lot.
The story is...
I mean
Prenatal head to foot blood grenade sex, not one but two nuclear bomb powered mulligans
getting decap'd and not dying via drone rescue
Combat is p amazeballs though, but on the two hardest difficulties only three weapons are really worth it, and the pistol and shotgun with full upgrades are actually kind of OP, never mind the meshugginah gun autovaporizing panzerhunds, and then compensating for those OP weapons by making bosses hyper damage sponges that literally instakill you on a grazing aoe hit.
The story in Order works because it stayed dialed to 11, Colossus went to 13 and you should only go to thirteen if you're an anime game or making a beat em up involving super powers.
The decapitation went way too far imo. Short story aside the game was still really fun.
let's never forget the fact that marphy argued with ggg for a bit on his postal 2 review.
Eh? I thought they'd be on the same page with that one.
two extremely easy stealth missions, one of them far shorter than the other too. no bullshit enemies aside from snipers because every enemy has a very clear weakness. befitting levels for a game that blends vanilla WW2 with the occult, they don't stand out much but certainly fit into the game well. the large airbase, the x-labs, the catacombs and even the final area. RTCW is definitely the best in the series.

wolfenstein from 2009 is the worst
Seems give or take accurate to me. 3D is clunky but still fun and fully functional, whereas TNC is just plain trash. RTCW by far has the best weapons and music.
hell yeah. RTCW gives you a knife, dual lugers, dual colt 45's, an MP40, a thompson, a sten, an fg42, a rocket launcher, a minigun, a tesla gun, a flamethrower, grenades, stielhandgranades and dynamite.
Yeah it was Noah's video on this

Marphy did comment on GGG's Wolfenstein video though and hearted it!

Oh, man. That video was laughably bad and the points he made were more reflective of himself than anything in the game. The "YOU WHITE MALE" crowd it attracted in the comments was the floater cherry on the diarrhea cake.
I think it's unfortunate how the loathing for his past self stopped him from enjoying Postal 2 even in a more mature way. I wouldn't call myself mature by a long shot but I would say I grew just as far apart from being immensely entertained by pissing on 4th degree burn victims as I grew closer to appreciating the absurd humor in the level design like how Mike J works from the restroom and everyone else except Vince is huddled up in the basement sweatshop and the terrorists at the library browsing through the porn and DIY bomb sections. It's kinda brilliant in a way because if you don't go around picking fights, you get so much leeway with exploration and there's actually quite a lot to see for what it is, be that humorous details or hidden weapon caches.
As for gggmanlives, it's kinda obvious that he's biased towards having things the way 90s to mid-2000s shooters did them and he occasionally projects that preference onto games that just aren't about no-frills shooting action. Like Dying Light, I'm pretty sure he hated it because it's a game that expects you to engage with its systems to the fullest and while he appears to have completed it, he talks about it like he never dipped more than his toes in the parkour exploration or experimenting with different equipment or maybe he felt obliged to haze it because everyone was sick of zombie games, who knows.
The New Colossus is better than The New Order because TNC works on my PC

Change my mind
wolf et was best.. by miles

RTCW MP and WolfET were a big part of my childhood, imo they beautifully combined fast paced arcadey Quake engine gameplay with team/objective based multiplayer.
Not to mention the huge mapping/modding community and all of the interesting and unique gamemodes people came up with. On the goldrush mod it was an amazing feeling managing to sneak to the enemy base, tip their cow and cash in all of their team's gold
Thank god someone mentioned WolfEt
There's a bunch of guys making a new client thats compatible with stock servers. Its called ET Legacy and works flawless. Just install and play.
A couple of months back I started ET back up, and I was suprised to see that there is still about 3k active players. THATS A LOT for a game this fuckin old.
Also managed to get to 2nd place on the global list splatterlatter.
Man this game was fucking amazing, no spray pattern learning bullshit like CSGO and whatnot
Is the playercount definitely based on actual players? Over the years I have tried to play a few times but all high pop servers were full of 'convincing' bots with player-like names and I quickly noticed that everyone in the server was a bot.
2009 will always be my favourite, for some reason i just find it so good to shoot shit in it.
The flamethrower and energy weapons especially, the main issue I had with it was the fact it felt rather shallow. As soon as you left the levels it felt almost like a pause screen, nothing was going on or happening.
See this tracker http://et.splatterladder.com/?mod=statistic
atm 2300 real players, just over 4k bots.
This has to be one of my favorite servers, it's almost always active during the evening

I established GGG was stupid during his TNC review. He made such a shit fit about its stealth mechanic but failed to mention that it was COMPETELY OPTIONAL.
How? Why? The Clockwork Mansion is such a fun and interesting level.
