https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-45596470 The UK government insists Theresa May's Brexit proposal is a "workable, credible" deal, despite being rejected by EU leaders at a summit in Salzburg. Minister James Brokenshire said "tough words" were to be expected near the end of negotiations but the government was "resolute" in its bid to get a deal. He said the so-called Chequers plan "does deliver" and it was now for the EU to "be specific" about its concerns. The UK is due to leave the EU on 29 March 2019. The UK prime minister says it is the only credible way to avoid a hard border between Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland. Where's the optimistic rating when you need it?
I'll go with sympathy for the british people instead.
What about marijuana for optimistic? (The lucky rating.)
That will go badly backfired until they leave, if they really think this will work until their countries Good Friday agreement will be breached after they with using no-deal plan with no less.
it's just a little airborne, it's still good, it's still good!
The hill they chose to die on.
Rather than Spanish Flu, it's British Fly Away (I'm here all week.)
Know what I'm sick of hearing, the fallacy that leaving the EU is a great opportunity cos 'we can finally trade with the rest of the world and not just Europe' The fuck kind of shit are you chatting, being in the EU gave us better access to trade deals with other countries like CETA which could be negotiated on more favourable terms cus we were part of a huge bloc and not just one country. Now we have to redo all our trade deals from scratch and hope they're as good as what we had before
hey that's totally wrong - Boilrig showed me a chart he drew with crayon that proves New Zealand will become a superpower the day after Brexit and the UK will be a solar empire.
The EU isn't going to change its mind on this. Even before the referendum it was clear that the EU would not compromise on the four pillars. Continuing to cling to this unworkable plan whilst pointing fingers at the EU saying it's unfair is nothing short of gross incompetence. The UK chose to leave - it's not the EU's mess to sort out and as such the EU has no reason or incentive to make any better offer. And it never will.
If the EU were to concede on any point, other countries such as Poland and Hungary would want the same deal, as well as developing cabals in Italy, France and Germany. You're correct to say that.
The EU has some democratic issues, for sure - that's the one area in which I agree with UKIP people. HOWEVER, I do think this issue is highly complex and, surprisingly, cannot be adequately explained to the wider community thru memes about McDonald's.
the brexit merry-go-round: gov: brexit can be done cleanly experts: it can't, it's BS gov: okay well but this plan will experts: no gov: okay but have you considered that it could? experts: it's been 5 minutes, it's hasn't stopped being bad gov: how about now? experts: you literally just added a smiley face to the plan gov: okay but please trust us, it's all gonna go swimmingly experts: it's still a complete catastrophy gov: it's not THAT bad. Look! The EU will bend to our demands any second now... experts: ... gov: any second now. See! a better deal! oh wait, that's just an old wrinkled McDonald's coupon experts: banks and big businesses are LITERALLY moving out in anticipation of brexit AS WE SPEAK gov: ah who needs a "stable economy" anyway, I say good riddance experts: ffs
memes are facts StrawberryClock and you are just being a Debbit Downer of our super Internet points.
Joining the EU has caused some countries economic poverty line to drop quite considerably. The UK has certainly not been one of them.
Primary reason I find the EU issue complex is precisely because it is undemocratic. The EU commission is pretty shitty in many ways, but I suppose I just feel that, out of self-preservation, it may be best to supplement our ideals with those of the status quo.
The better way would have been to lead talks to fix these bureaucratic issues rather than throw all of our toys out of the pram and set our own house on fire in protest.
We should just become the north korea of europe. Crash out of the EU without any deal, and then demand respect and tribute of butter and bacon being left in the middle of the channel tunnel every day to appease us, under threat of nuclear annihilation.
Latest update, May has demanded that we be shown some motherfucking respect https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/sep/21/theresa-may-demands-respect-from-eu-in-brexit-negotiations
