Issue stems from badly made .mdl file -

Any way i can reliably get the true model path? Cheers.
It's not about badly made .mdl file, you should (to avoid problems like this) always name the .mdl correctly and put it in the directory that is specified in the .mdl itself.
As much as i wish i could do that, i'm afraid that option is not possible for me. Bad server owners will always exist, foolproof solution would be great.
I don't think there is one, you just have to hope people won't slap models into folders they are not supposed to be in.
No proper solution exists?
My current theoretical fix would be parsing all .mdl files and checking what files have a mismatch from their path and the .mdl internal mdl name.
That is more like trying to get around an issue rather than fixing it. Could you give more info on what are you trying to do? Maybe you won't need to bother with this at all.
Goal for this is model parsing to get head bone of any model whatsoever for visuals, hats, whatever the fuck.
You're just doing workarounds, there's no way to exactly get head positions
You will end up with a big table with their offsets fixed
It works very well when it does, past some special cases that model doesn't have a head hitbox (headcrabs, stalker from ep2)
Just so you guys know this user is a moderator of a hack forum so he probably wants the right head hitboxes on all servers even for bad models so he can aid it in creating a cheat.
What's wrong with bullet hats! Now that you mention it, it's pretty obvious, there's no way at all to get the perfect position for a hat
I don't know what's the damn problem, there are way reliable ways to achieve that without getting the head bone, but I don't help with hack/cheats programing
