https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/sep/21/gerard-batten-drags-ukip-further-right-with-harsh-anti-islam-agenda Ukip has proposed Muslim-only prisons, special security screening for Muslim would-be immigrants and a repeal of equalities laws before its annual conference, further indicating the party’s shift to the populist hard right under its leader, Gerard Batten. The conference will be held from Friday. Other policies put forward in a so-called interim manifesto, which Batten said was aimed at making Ukip “a populist party in the real sense of the world”, include the abolition of the category of hate crime, as well as scrapping the Equalities and Human Rights Commission and the government’s equalities office.
Surprised it's taken them this long tbh.
What the ACTUAL fuck. That's absolutely disgusting.
....did they just 'Hold My Beer' the US GOP?!
They were at an anti-Islam rally the other day with EDL types, even Farage is no longer onboard with them it seems https://news.sky.com/story/ukip-leader-gerard-batten-criticised-by-nigel-farage-for-endorsing-anti-muslim-rally-11500884?dcmp=snt-sf-twitter
I think they need a new name to match this new direction they're going in. Something snappy and patriotic, like the "British National Party" or BNP for short.
Worse. Many of them are digging it back up in the name of those who died fighting it. Madness.
I'm sure this won't radicalize more muslim citizens in the UK. It's like actively destroying your own country.
Just taking the logical turn after Brexit succeding made them irrelevant, all UKIP can do is create boogeyman's to stay relevant, that's all they've ever done.
Actively destroying our own country has became something of a national passtime recently.
That's pretty much all UKIP seems to do really, destroy the UK.
"Ukip has proposed Muslim-only prisons" Well that wont feed the extremist muslim agenda. How retarded can one get? Throwing muslims who are in for victimless crimes (like what, didn't/can't pay traffic fines and have to sit it out) together with extremist, possibly violent muslims who are looking to add more men to their "ranks" in prison, this must be the best way for them to find muslims who are on the edge of society already.

Dubious. Overreaction and assumptions aren't the way to go, they'll just take you down a darker path.
I think the aim here is to curb radicalisation in prison - like in the US there are neo nazi gangs, in the UK one of the gangs built their identity around being Muslim - and since they are criminals in prison those gangs tend to have heavy influence from extremists and terrorists. Sometimes non muslims join these gangs for protection/to avoid getting beaten or raped - exposing them to the radicals which the gangs are built around. So they come out of prison having been radicalised by terrorist clerics. "Muslim only prisons" are a terrible idea and will clearly be abused, but I think that's the thing they're tryna get at - rather than a muslim separation situation (perhaps it will end up like that tho) it's to curb people becoming muslims in prison. Either way UKIP are shit and people should feel ashamed for supporting them. Also Sargon of Akkad is trash. If people wanna curb people being turned to extremism they can start by de-platforming Sargon and his band of gimps. One of my friends started out on Sargon, then went to Stefan Moleneux, then Trump, then Tommy Robinson, then David Duke, then hardcore neo nazi propaganda. Fucking radicalised by youtube ""skeptics"", he's not a dumb guy either just fragile, neurotic and paranoid.
I think you misunderstood. (And I could have been clearer) Muslims who are on the edge of society, as in a small number of muslims who are already on the "wrong side of the law" so to speak. And maybe the idea is to not radicalize non-muslims in prison, but I don't think his would be the best course of action.
I sorta get both of your points. The thing is, I have lived in a heavily Muslim area most my life (about 30% of the kids at my school were Muslim), and it didn't really affect us. Some did not integrate well, but it has been blown so out of proportion.
Radicalizing Muslims is exactly what these people want, they feed on division and actively try to widen the gulf between people.
Oh but thats part of the issue. Get a man who is integrated well, and throw him in a seperate prison then other people in his country get thrown in because of his religion? Thats the government saying: "You're not british. You're a muslim. And we feel theres a difference." I mean either which way, thats not right. (Or actually very right, on the political spectrum).
Erm, where on Earth did I imply that I want people to be kept in separate prisons?! I think that's a stupid idea.
Where did I say you do? If anything, you added to my point that it's rediculous to split these folks because as you noted, its a fraction of people who don't "integrate well" And is theres enough people who do make the devide between ethnicities and religion already walking the streets. To have the government add to that by literally segregating those people is not helping anything.
My apologies, then. It's sometimes hard to interpret comments over the Internet with no facial expressions to complement words.
Degenerates can never hide their true nature for long. Let's hope this eventually leads to them being banned under UK hate speech laws.
One of their policies is to stop all green power laws/facilities and replace them with coal. why is the far right so intent on killing the planet
If your coal miners are anything like ours, they will hail you as the second coming of Christ for providing even a little bit of job security.
De-platforming is a terrible idea though. Not only will it make whoever you are trying to silence a martyr and further their agenda, it sets an extremely dangerous precedent that will come back to bite you in the ass. It's also censorship. Instead of de-platforming people, expose them and counter their arguments. Plus the recent drama proves that Sargon is more likely to destroy his own career through his sheer hubris and arrogance, so don't worry too much about him. It's not like he will be relevant for much longer.
Your belief that the general public will reject these people is admirable yet naive. The far right is making gains everywhere in the West because they've gotten better at hiding or altering the narrative around the more insidious parts of their ideals, mostly by either dressing it up in pretty words that fool people or outright lying and spreading misinformation, which in the case of both Brexit and Trump, has worked out very well for some people. Exposing and countering arguments is pointless when your mass audience doesn't care about facts, reality means nothing in politics anymore, it holds no value to the general pubic.
I hate UKIP, but I am not sure that banning political parties is a good idea. Laughing at arsehole parties is more the British way and it worked well here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iKfrY9l2kY
Untrue, there will always be people willing to listen to logic and reason. You will take votes away from them, regardless of how many. Your belief is understandable, but cynical. And even if true, it still does not justify silencing your opposition. At that point you are subverting democracy and you have become as bad as the enemy you claim to fight.
i'm not sure how politics works in the UK, but laughing at the far-right sure as fuck didn't work over here in the US
