in Singapore Huawei spent the night before the iPhone XS launch handing out smartphone power banks — approximately 200 of them, according to a local source — to those patiently waiting in the Orchard Road Apple Store queue. The 10,000mAh pack included a friendly note from Huawei too, saying, “Here’s a power bank. You’ll need it. Courtesy of Huawei.”
Fucking legendary
That's top tier banter right there.
The 10,000mAh pack included a friendly note from Huawei ...
Jeez, freebie power banks are usually somewhere between 2,600 and 5,200mAh.
Props to them for not skimping out on the stunt.
They should have also provided a free dongle and fast charger since Apple doesn't even put those in the box
why bother? These Apple loyalists ain't going to convert just because of some free battery
Because PR like that is gonna get articles like these that spread across the internet and some random guy might read about it and go "Man that's super cool, maybe I should check out this Huawei brand."
Giving out like 200 free batteries is more than just giving out free batteries
Mainly because its not about having a good smartphone for a good deal. It's about the status quo.
This is nice and all, but Huawei is a Chinese company run by a former PLA engineer.
What does that mean?
still wouldn't buy huawei or anything chinese-tech if my life depended on it
I rather use Apple than Chinese spy surveillance shit. As much as Apple gets flank, at least they value user privacy. Which isn't something I can say about a Chinese company who would gladly give that to the politburo.
There's been no evidence of spying by Huawei. If there were hard evidence of their spying, why would their phones even be sold at all.

Im not sure why the funnies when it has been indeed sebunked several times.
Apple doesn't give a damn about privacy, the only difference is that Huawei will give your data to the PRC, Apple will sell it to anyone interested.
You better stop using all of those electronics with parts imported from China then.
All of them are pretty much
Xiaomi is the most based tho
They've also pu this (it has a charging port) infront of Apple's center in Amsterdam
Condemning Chinese mobile companies for spying when there has been zero evidence but touting Apple as some paragon of privacy completely uninfluenced by our government is real :bigthink:
Even though their has been no evidence .Id rather my data be sent to foreign government for spying, rather then it be sold of by companies like Facebook and Google.
id rather trust my data to a company in the jurisdiction of a somewhat broken democracy than to a company that must answer to to a straight up totalitarian government
NEWSFLASH EVERY COMPANY WANTS YOUR DATA
Please, if you think google, Apple, any big tech company is a saint or your government is nice and don't collect your data, I have a massive bridge to sell to you
Not really, China doesn't have a good track record for this kind of thing. The US isn't perfect either, but we're nothing compared to China's spying. We don't even have a people rating system.
