Loving the creepy ass vibes this is giving off. The silent weird ass footage after the makeup shots is too good. The mannerisms of Phoenix, the shakiness of the cam, and just how bizarre the whole sequence is, is terrific
I know, given DC's movie track record, I shouldn't be excited for this but I'm actually kinda really excited for this?
I've not been overly optimistic about DC's live action offerings before but something about this has me curious. I think this has the potential to be interesting if they do it just right. Think it's just that, sadly. I'd be down for the whole film in that style, but I doubt they'll go for it.
aaaa tentatively hyped? If it's a trainwreck I won't be too surprised but I'd really like it to be decent.
Joaquin as the Joker would actually work, in my opinion... like... probably really well. Just by the fact that he's one of those "crazy method actors," and had even fooled everyone around the time of that mockumentary, I'm Still Here.
Joaquin is definitely someone who I think could have an interesting interpretation of Joker, so despite DC's awful movies of late, I'm cautiously optimistic.
Getting some serious taxi driver vibes from this
Ya sadly I think it is, but the scene almost looks too well composed and tracked by whoever filmed it, and that same person is absurdly close to the set. Guess we'll find out in time!
This is not just a random street though, it's an actual set. Amusement Mile is a place in Gotham City.
Ooh good catch on that, I knew they were definitely on set, but didn't realise that the entire street is likely manufactured, not just decorated. Makes it that much harder for some random dude to have snuck on and gotten footage.
They often have photographers running around on the set, probably doing shots for promotion from a distance. You can hear the shutter in the video.
While this is certainly just for the promotion, you realize the shutters and everything are just part of the mise en scène, right ? Chances are the camera shake is also digital and the zoom noises are added-in for extra effect.
Between this and Shazam! DC may actually start doing stuff that's actually worth watching again since Wonder Woman.
And all they had to do was shitcan Zack Snyder
I doubt the camera shake is digital, as it's always quite obvious when that happens.
The second half is almost definitely just some dude filming, it has been floating around separately for a few days as leaked set footage.
Leaked footage on set during filming while keeping all other camera crew outside of the shot and perfectly following the action ?
I love the scummy vibe I'm getting from this of Joaquin playing a washed up clown, like the make up choice is incredibly interesting. Plus the homage to Taxi Driver is evident and I hope they keep a similar aesthetic up
It's written and directed by the guy who did the Hangover trilogy, so don't get to excited.
I think if DC made their movie universe focus on the villains instead of the heros, it could be really neat
Finally, a movie for us gamers
i even heard it'll be set "in a society"
Here's more images of him in makeup. https://twitter.com/GOATfilmpodcast/status/1043634319963521024
The color scheme of the makeup is inverted from the mask Joker wears at the start of the Dark Knight (which is in itself a reference to the '60s series) https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/58141/80b24fe4-eaf2-4ea6-b00d-8353da07c256/image.png
I dig the sleezy 70's aesthetic its going with though. I wouldn't expect this to be some kinda of experimental movie though. I think that would be too risky for something as high profile as this.
Can't be worse than Suicide Squad. When you hit rock bottom all you can go is up.
I wasn't feeling the look until I saw those set photos
Who has also directed series documentaries
You can clearly see the clown step on his nose and continue chasing it as if it's still rolling away
