maddogsamurai screaming with joy in the distance...
Now i can actually tell the difference between the robots.
They're going to give Optimus Prime his classic look!?
please be reboot, please be reboot, please be reboot
Mostly wanting that since the Director is the dude behind Kubo and the Two Strings. And also using the original Transformer designs makes them way more interesting and cool-looking.
Oh my god, a different director that knows how to SHOOT and evidently understands the issues that made the Bay-era designs overly busy garbage???
Fuck, it only took over a decade... but better late than never.
This could be the first of these films I'll actually see since watching the third for irony sake.
Man if the writing is on par with the not shit visuals im gonna be super keen to see this one.
After watching through all the other bay films im not sure even he knew what the hell was going on in the majority of them.
rest in peace Bernie Mac
Holy jesus that Prime, holy JESUS that Soundwave. This is what I was expecting when I was a little boyo in 2007.
This is how the transformers live action movies should have looked from the start. Please be a good movie as well.
Amazing how much better the simple designs look.
Ask for the fanboy and he shall appear.
The part with bee hiding his head in the sand like an ostrich will never not make me smile on how...cute that was.
And if you look in the movie thread you can already see my reaction.
Some screencaps from the footage as to see your eyes have not deceived you.

Considering how the footage just stomps on everything Bayformers established in the past ten years of "lore" it's safe to say it's going to be a reboot. Plus the idea that if this goes well the Bumblebee movie will be the bedrock for new films in this new timeline. Bad news is that it has to compete with Mary Poppins Returns. Even with just a taste of the new trailer coming, you can be damn sure I will support this over the sequel of a beloved Disney classic 50+ years in the making. I don't think anyone can top the original Mary Poppins anyway.
Before the day is even done we have more teasers. This time featuring the mysterious new antagonist. UIP Türkiye on Instagram

iirc wasn't it already confirmed to be a reboot? I remember there was an interview saying this would be the first of films to establish the new Transformers movie series
"Mysterious"
It's been confirmed that's Blitzwing.
(Yes, I know. It's dumb).
I think it'll depend on the movie's success.
There was also speculation a few months ago of how it also depended on the reactions/feedback from test screenings (e.g. IIRC there was originally a scene where BB scans the 77' Camaro mode) ; based on the reactions/hype I've seen on other sites, I really hope it becomes a reboot.
Maybe it's also another reason the Jet Con was named Blitzwing; perhaps they'd prefer to leave the A-listers to a main new rebooted TF movie.
It is, but only if it does well financially. Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura whose motivations remain unclear has gone on record that if Bee does well during the December lineup it will relaunch the films in that direction ala X-Men: First Class and Days of Future Past.
Hope it does become successful. All the stuff shown so far really looks good and have the potential to be an actually proper and fun Transformers movie series that does the franchise justice.
Nothing has been confirmed either way. And that's intentional: Paramount wants to have their cake and eat it too, by pretending that this is actually connected to the Bayverse, when it's almost certainly a reboot.
Hollywood finally fucking did it
My days of caring about Transformers are long behind me, but I must say, I really do appreciate that they now resemble their classic looks a lot more closely.
That's...one way of putting it and it definitely holds water. There were some threads mentioning how this goes beyond what Bay established as a bad thing and took it to heart, causing fickle debates with fans of the movie franchise and fans of the property as a whole. So yeah even the fansites are at even odds about the films decisions to have and keep. Though I doubt many fans or people born around the Bay films make up a whole lot after what happened to The Last Knight, it made me think of the one moment during the premiere of Dark of the Moon where kid around like 7 years old that went to camp where my mom worked. He mentions how he liked it and "Prime went to the Dark Side and killed his father at the end."
If there is a big takeaway from all this is that places like YT and the teaser clips do show that there IS an audience for a G1-inspired move series and they DO want it vs the people who populate clips from TF5 and say how this is way better. It can happen, but if only I think only depends on what happens between December 9 - Christmas. So yeah, vote with your wallet is coming into play.
I grew up on the Bayformer designs and didn't mind them too much, but they really started getting absurd in Age of Extinction with the fucking Samurai and the guy with a trenchcoat. I don't really like the simplicity of the G1 designs, but Bumblebee's design actually looks pretty good. I never bothered to see Age or Last Knight after Dark of the Moon, but Bumblebee doesn't look half bad.

Okay so we're full G1 now.
Fuck I'm officially hyped up now.

I'm glad we're finally getting an extended look at Cybertron, they actually made G1 designs work on film, and the Transformers seem to be actual characters. I'm actually excited and hopeful that this successfully reboots the franchise.
Yeah. Okay. Just take my ticket money and my soul right now. We rolling now!
Just when you thought you couldn't get enough, though I wonder if the post above has a similar 3rd trailer.

The nozzles on Blitzwing's faceplate that make him look like he's wearing a jet pilot's respirator are a nice little detail.
I never thought I would say that a Transformers movie looks charming but this one certainly does.
Huh they showed both G1 Soundwave and one of his later designs.
So how did Paramount go from Michael Bay to the director of Kubo and the Two Strings?
