It was from a much simpler time. You don't hear much about /b/, i'd reckon if this animation was done today, it would be /pol/ invading /v/ instead.
Who the fuck is Moot
Founder and owner of 4chan from 2003-2014(?). Then he sold it to a slimy Japanese conman.

I thought I saw this remake already some time ago. Turns out, it wasn't exactly this remake, but was another one they did. From the description: People wondered why I didn't do the game console combination scene in the original remake, the main reason was the console combination scene was filler in the original ver and I want to choreograph a proper fight scene in its place... But now here it is, slightly updated with modern video game console and a more elaborate sequence. enjoy! Still nice to see the animator giving it some attention, though.
I had the same thoughts, swear I've seen this remade a few times now. Doesn't matter though, I'm actually so nostalgic for that era of internet humour. It was crude, edgy, and now in retrospect, pretty cringey, but it's tainted with this strange sort of ridiculous innocence that the modern internet isn't.
I think it's because back then not everyone used the internet. The majority of it was just a bunch of weirdos just trying to find a place to belong. Jokes could be stupid and cringey since no one ever took any of it seriously.
To me it feels like everyone collectively grew up and became bitter and cynical, me included. I want the old times back.
