Fuck off are you serious
Watch them make Shazam only compatible with Apple phones or rebrand it for their apple phones.
"Hey google, what song is playing?
oh fuck off
Oh boy. I can't wait for this dumbshit consolidation to just explode in everyone's faces.
i thought shazam died years ago.
I feel like it'll just end up being a formality where consumers are concerned, with the addition of iOS users not having ads anymore. I mean, Siri has had Shazam built in for like four years now.
Fuck off, switching over to SoundHound....
first they pull the Windows 10 app out and now they do this
the issue with this is that they'll start using apple music as the only source where as before it was actually decent for finding those unknown dj mixes
Hey Cortana, what song is this?
direct opposite actually, they currently have a tv show running on US TV. https://www.fox.com/beat-shazam/
Wtf why would you think that.
huh, what?
dude it's like the only app people use to identify a song nowadays lol
i... just ask google.
I've yet to find someone who uses siri/ok-google unironically [and isn't also a turbo nerd, not implying anything] to be honest
can confirm, use voice commands and am turbonerd tbf you can also type commands in which is usually how i do it
Honestly I feel like I see non technical people using those far more than any of my fellow turbonerds.
soundhound was better anyway imo
I used Shazam up until it started popping up while watching youtube videos where some music started playing. Then I instantly uninstalled it. It was actually quite handy for quickly catching songs that were playing on the radio.
"hey google there was this banging song with a part that goes untz untz untz" *clicks search* ???
Google assistant.
NOPE google uses their own engine for both the now playing feature and song search now playing on device ML then got applied to song search in the ~cloud~
Last I heard Google Assistant wasn't able to do song identification. Only through the voice search app. Atleast last week my pixel told me "I can't do that yet"
My axon 7 mini, all i had to say to google was "hey google what song is playing" and it did the listening thing and showed me.
Google assistant seemed like a gimmick to me and its a bit strange to get used to using but its been pretty useful for me sometimes and incredibly responsive. It's probably more useful for my mom though who has trouble navigating and typing, though.
My new phone is particularly good at picking up my voice, so I can easily just say something out in a regular voice and it picks it up. So I use it to set timers, and to find the phone whenever I put it somewhere and I can't find it.
I have a Google Home, and the assistant feature on it (coupled with my phone) is really handy. I can control my lighting, set alarms for cooking, it creates a shopping list for me which I can pull up on my phone, weather, music, hands-free phone calls. On it's on with the phone, it's kind of useless outside of driving and maybe asking for new music while I run. With the Google Home and some smart home things, it really increases its utility ten-fold.
