Tinder is allowing Indian women to really control the conversation.
The dating app announced a new feature called My Move on Tuesday that gives women the option to prevent men from initiating a conversation — even if they've "matched."
The optional feature is currently only available to women using Apple's iOS operating system in India, but it will soon be extended to Android users.

Seems like a good idea
There's a few dating apps that operate on that basis already. Which is an interesting shift in the usual way these things work.
No idea what the success rates on those are mind.
On one hand girls' inboxes won't be full of "hey beautiful" anymore, on the other, getting matched with a girl then her not even allowing to communicate probably feels pretty shitty
Isn't that what bumble does?
show bobs n vagene
So Tinder is adding a Bumble option?
Not that that's a bad thing or anything, it just seems a bit weird to think this is new.
Not going to lie, I have a funny feeling in like a few months were gonna get a headline like "Indian Man murders woman due to new tinder rule".
Indian Incels are legendary for freaking the fuck out.
Not sure how they're gonna find her though
I mean what's the point of making this feature exclusive to one gender? More women than men are gonna use it, but just seems like a weird thing to be so explicit about which gender a feature is for.
There should just be one button labelled 'Marry' in India, surely?
Which instantly sends the parents contact information to each others family.
Interesting that tinder will adapt how the app works based on whatever country theyre in. It's probably a good feature to have in this country in particular.
That's Bumble's thing, really the only thing it has going for it after a bad UI redesign.
Isn't the woman swiping right her implicitly saying she wants to chat with the guy?
You would think. But more often than not, no.
Swiping just means "I find this person attractive" it doesn't mean anything else.
That doesn't mean there aren't edge cases but that's the general idea.
Seems like an issue with the way they're using it then.
If you don't want to chat with someone don't swipe right on them.
That's the WHOLE POINT of swiping right.
To some people it's just a collection.
It's not only the fact that girls are incredibly selective and you'll have a .1% chance of getting a match as a guy, but then none will actually respond to a message.
If this feature is wanted, then does this mean women in India... initiate contact?!
Be right back, I have to, uh, buy tobacco for, eh, the goldfish making the, hm, homework.
Gotta keep that constant supply of attention up somehow
this ain't it chief.
They intend on making this global. But they chose India as a test area because they use the messaging feature more than any other country. Probably because in Western world everyone goes "Hey. Hey. Add me on snap."
This is a solution for an issue that is caused by swiping right on someone without the intention of talking to them, and then failing to use the unmatch feature.
It was cool with Bumble because that was Bumble's gimmick, not because it was a groundbreaking feature. Now it's just a dumb work around for something that already has multiple solutions.
I don't necessarily think it should be exclusive but it's pretty obvious why women are prioritized. With the way society works women just get constantly bombarded with messages from thirsty guys. The opposite is nowhere near as prevalent. And it encourages the woman to initiate the conversation and I always see dudes complain about having to be proactive so it seems like a decent idea to me.
Because more often than not, men initiate the conversations first. There isn't really a call for it
Some women are on tinder simply to promote their Instagram.
Wait till you see all the 'SUPER LIKES ARE JUST AN ACCIDENT' profiles.
Like what are your hands so damn clumsy
I mean, I have done it.
But I'm also swiping right in an angsty fury.
Also, why never use super like on purpose?
Yeah, you can't message the bots first, they have to message you first.
