"violated the basic human rights of the Chinese citizens" PRC citizens literally have no rights in their own country, accusing any other nation of violating their rights is absurd. I think more mention should be made of the Dalai Lama visit, had it not coincided I doubt this would have been anywhere near as big a deal since tourists being horrible and facing consequences is something that happens every day. China's been trying to kill the Dalai Lama and the entirety of the Tibetan people for decades now, any country that harbors him or gives him a venue is a threat.
34 million enraged Chinese people hm? oh boo fucking hoo every country has to take turns getting boo'd off stage and china is no exception.
It's funny because despite of this shitstorm I still see hundreds of chinese tourists at my work (high-end store in Stockholm) so really I don't think the average chinese citizen gives a single shit.
The Swedish police could prolly waterboard and beat Chinese tourists to within an inch of their lives and they'd still have more rights in Sweden then they do at home.
Duh, they don't even share our alphabet
This picture (originally screengrabbed for another thread by @lolkork) I believe, basically sums it up: https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/239377/cbe95325-a6e0-41d1-bbb7-2faff3595ecd/image.png The tourists are acting really overdramtic and the police looks more bemused than anything. The hotel ordningsvakt/security/hall monitor is pretty much trying not to laugh. And as for comedy skit: While I don´t really agree with uploading what amounts to a pretty rascist video on Chinese Youtube the rest of the skit is a pretty hearty "fuck you China for trying to intimidate us" and not rascist at all.
I don't think that clip was bad. It's satire. It's like two layers deep, playing on the stereotypes of the Chinese tourists and the fact that racism against Asians is more tolerated in Sweden. The timing was bad perhaps, but China can fuck off telling what Sweden can or can't do.
Comrade citizen, satire is a veiled way to criticize the Glorious State. By acknowledging its existence you spread western lies that seek to undermine the State and the People. Report to camp #455 for your mandatory 14 months of re-education. Glory to China!
My old man's gone to China a couple times on business, and before his company let him go anywhere they had to give a little lecture on proper etiquette in the country (for Germany they explained to not tip at restaurants and to request automatic transmission rental cars), the lecture on China included a segment on how to spot and avoid the secret police. I can't say how true it is, but they specifically mentioned to watch for people making comments and jokes about the government, they're used as bait to catch dissidents.
