Yeah a used crisp packet probably isn't the most well made thing to survive being sorted like an envelope. Tends to be easy to open the glued ends, plastic rips easily, etc. Sort of like they were designed that way or something...
what kind of dumb protest is this. you are using other people's resources to get back at one company by sending back something you bought from them? what's the purpose!!?
yes instead of recycling lets just cram them into postboxes like some sort of animal 👌
Read the article, they're doing this because the packs aren't recyclable.
oh
They've apparently promised to go plastic-free by 2025 so there must be some solution?
How about metalized film across a paper bag Or a corn starch bag Or maybe packs of crisps don't need to survive 30 years
Another part of the solution (since people aren't going to the beach to throw their packets into the ocean) is proper waste management for where the cities actually channel the packets.
make the packet out of crisp itself
I'm behind the protest, I don't think the situation is as crazy as it sounds. Royal Mail is quite nicely asking them to just make sure they are wrapped to make it easier to comply with their wishes. Packets of crisps are a really big problem in UK cities, the line the bottom of most fences in out of city centre places.
Well the company said they would go plastic free so unless they're lying through their teeth (possible) there IS a solution. Yes, without a good packet those problems exist, but you hardly need plastic to make a good packet- only a cheap-as-possible packet.
