>WASHINGTON —The Senate Judiciary Committee is inquiring about at least one additional allegation of misconduct against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, according to a letter obtained by NBC News and multiple people familiar with the process. >Republican Senate investigators asked Kavanaugh about the new complaint, NBC News has learned, during a phone call on Tuesday between Kavanaugh and committee staff. Sources told NBC News that Kavanaugh denied the allegation in the letter during the call and a spokesman for the committee declined to comment. >A Republican aide on the committee said the conversation took place shortly after noon. While Republican staff posed questions to Kavanaugh, their Democratic counterparts were also on the call but did not ask any questions. >According to an anonymous complaint sent to Republican Sen. Cory Gardner of Colorado, Kavanaugh physically assaulted a woman he socialized with in the Washington, D.C., area in 1998 while he was inebriated. Senate probing new allegation of misconduct against Kavanaugh No names yet. This whole thing has blown up way more than I thought imaginable.

Well considering that he is up hold a position that can greatly effect the outcome of an entire nation I think any discretion from any time is fair to scrutinize.
Because it's only now relevant since Kavanaugh is a high profile person nominated to the highest court in the country.
I mean would you rather we never do it since we didn't do it before?
If this was in 1998 that means he did it while working for Ken Starr's investigation of the Lewinsky scandal, lol.
I guess we're about to find out just how watertight a defense shrugging and saying "boys will be boys amirite guys ;)" is.
so what do we know kavanagh is an alcoholic he is a bad drunk and he is swell guy who coached my son's little league! so he's perfectly qualified
He's just as qualified as having a racist C-lister of a 1990's reality TV star for POTUS!
Victims of abuse already have an uphill battle when the person is under intense scrutiny like Kav is. Chuds come out of the woodwork to smear them even in cases that seem totally cut and dry. To try and do it when that person is more or less unknown to the greater public and has a more solid grip on power is a lot harder. We also have a problem in the US of encouraging people to "suck it up" or "move on" as a way to passive aggressively encourage people to keep silent. Being victimized makes it hard to make "rational" decisions about what to do since you're fed so much conflicting information.
It's really only been recently that people could come out with accusations against a powerful person & be believed. For example, women have been accusing Weinstein & Cosby for decades, but they were always discredited, ignored, or threatened into silence.
Senator Dick Durbin at Brett's confirmation hearing for being an appeals judge in 2006 As I look through all of the different issues that you have been involved in as an attorney in public service and the private sector, it seems that you are the Zelig or Forrest Gump of Republican politics. You show up at every scene of the crime. You are somehow or another deeply involved, whether it is Elian Gonzalez or the Starr Report, you are there.
Witness statements are evidence. But that doesn't matter, because this isn't a criminal case where he can be found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, it's a job interview where you have to demonstrate you're the best person for the job.
Breaking on CNN right now. There is a fifth allegation coming out.

the dude has been groomed for politics and has lived in the upper echelons of society his whole life. Look at Trump if you need proof that that level has no accountability. they both have gotten away with things that would have jailed lesser men but they're rich and connected so society doesn't let that happen.
Big difference between your run-of-the-mill job interview and being nominated to the Supreme Court. It's a position of massive consequence, more so than any other judicial position in the country, so it makes perfect sense that the standard for confirmation is extremely high. Do people not get accused of sexual assault in the UK?
Just look at this fucking shit: https://i.imgur.com/7iM8MDB.png It's no wonder Baby Boomers who only trust Faux-News are the dumbest people in the country.
"Trump: World leaders were laughing with me" lmao this fucking country
Aww, Trump thinks of himself as a leader. How sweet
It's easy. In our world, information is a weapon. Any card you play early is a card you can't play later. And when someone as controversial and scummy as Kavanaugh is about to be nominated to an office arguably higher than even the POTUS, you can bet his political opponents are going to pull out all the stops to find any dirt on the man they can. They find out he was a sleazy bastard, search his associates until they find his victims, convince them that now is the time to tell their story, and the rest is exactly what you see.
The GOP hired a woman to question Ford as to not look bad.
