How much progress have they made with the case over the last 10 years?
Had no idea they're still investigating this case.
From what I've heard, barely any. The most substantial evidence they have ever really found (far as I know anyway, so feel free to chip in) has been from people telling the police they've seen a girl who looks like Madeleine in various places in the world. I hate to say it, and my heart goes out to the parents, but I doubt she'll ever be found.
Couldn't that money be better spent on making sure this shit never happens again?
How do you propose we ensure portugese kidnappers never ever kidnap anyone again
build a wall
The money spent looking for one girl could have gone into stopping the trafficking rings that likely abducted her for sex slavery. Thousands upon thousands of women, from ages ranging just a few months to their elderly ages, are trafficked every year, and yet it's barely ever mentioned in the mainstream media.
This post really has nothing to do with the question I asked whatsoever.
They said the money could've been put to a better investigation. You asked how that was possible (in a flippant and stupid way, with a pedantic remark thrown in) and I gave you one exactly. Open your mind or shut your mouth.
I know this might sound tinfoil, but I've heard people saying the parents might be the culprits. Besides, shouldn't they be charged for negligence?
Actually they said the money should be put toward it never happening again. Your post was literally just stating the problem (and then followed up with some seriously questionable speculation): yes, there are human traffickers who process tens of thousands of people a year. Yes, it is horrible. You said you gave one exactly. I must have missed it: where in your post do you mention a way that the United States government could put funds towards preventing kidnappings in foreign countries? You literally just said "put money towards it".
It's a lot more common for the parents to be involved than we like to admit, but i don't know how much evidence supports this.
Uh-oh, this is where it's clear you're talking bullshit! It's the UK home office, Scotland Yard, and the Portugese police that are investigating this! Twat. Here's where I said it could've been spent better. Maybe stop while you're ahead.
why is this search still going on why are resources still being wasted on this
this whole case is just mass criminal negligence. absolutely everyone dropped the ball, from the resort staff to the parents to the Portuguese police to the tabloid media - even fucking Interpol and Scotland Yard. i bet the perps are pretty pleased with themselves at this point
why must you make an argument out of nothing
(Mobile fucked up the quote but anyway) 1.) Force of habit- innocent mistake, and doesn't change the fact that throwing money at a problem does not solve it. You say money could be spent fixing this issue. I asked how money could be used to solve this issue. You respond with "just spent money!". Spending money is not a solution, let alone to an issue a foreign gov't has. The tabloid media dragged the family through the dirt, but I'm not aware of any real evidence whatsoever to support any wrongdoing by the family- and why exactly should the family be charged with negligence?
Yeah, nah, she's dead. It's been 10 years, they're not gonna find her. There's really no point in this search continuing.
Her parents fucked off and left their young children in a hotel room so they could go and drink. Not the most responsible decision. A few theorised that one of her parents' medical background suggests that they could have given Madeleine a nightcap to keep them sleeping for the night but they came back, found her dead and covered it up.
for being negligent shitheads? they were also suspected by the UK police not just the Portuguese WikiLeaks cables
Please share a link to the oh so reputable source I'm sure you have to back up this claim. Parents are almost always suspects in kidnapping cases- and as the tabloid you linked mentions, they are no longer considered suspects.
It was big news and a high topic of discussion in the UK for years.
I feel like getting assigned to this case is a punishment for detectives that fuck something up.
God just fuck off with this case already, I'm pretty sure they're just making money off it by this point to "search" for her.
I've gone through the cycle of sadness until making fun about the case about a hundred times by now. Let's just give it a rest and accept that bush did 9/11 and Madeleine McCann is not going to ansHELP IM STUCK IN THIS DWEEBS BASEMENT AND HE WON'T STOP FEEDING ME CORN
Yeah, because of tabloids. Just because sometimes mom or the sun thinks that they killed their daughter doesn't make it a point worth repeating nor considering.
