I hope a frat boy doesn't become a supreme court justice
You and me both.

Rasor said that Judge seemed to regard it as fully consensual. She said that Judge did not name others involved in the incident, and she has no knowledge that Kavanaugh participated in it.
Current "I Don't Recall" count: 1
So I haven't been following this, just heard the names mentioned. Who's done what? What's this about?
It pisses me off that abusers and enablers of abuse are in positions of power as it is. It's awful enough that Brett is even in a position of power in the first place, let alone attempting to ascend. The fact Clarence Thomas hasn't been impeached boils my blood. But of course it's not like we don't currently and have had abusers as the nation's head. A government mirrors the individuals who run it. Those who abuse or enable it will be stalwart for institutional abuse. For the vulnerable to be protected, there needs to be an environment built for it. I can only hope and vote for those who bring up the wary, instead of breaking them further.
"unsubstantiated claims" wew, what a fucking douche
Ford is now on.
Jesus she sounds so terrified
Words can't describe the absolute rage i now have towards this scumbag. Fuck Brett Kavanaugh, Fuck the GOP, Fuck Trump, fuck this "Locker-Room" talk bullshit.
Can't blame her. This sort of thing demands an investigation, instead she's being interviewed by a prosecutor while every Republican in the room is openly looking to tear her down.
I am immensely grateful for her bravery and willingness to discuss this topic.
I really hate the way all this was handled. I don't doubt the severity of the claims or whether or not they're true, but damn it stop waiting till the last possible second to come out with these things. It puts the whole thing in a blanket of doubt and appears extremely politically motivated.
Brett dissented in the DC circuit's ruling that an illegal immigrant minor in government custody could travel to get an abortion, real feminist.
Women face a lot of pressure when it comes to coming out about these things. I can't blame her for being hesitant. From her testimony, it seems like she started trying as soon as it Kavanagh was going to be appointed.
And unfortunately everything she feared has happened. She's been harassed, degraded, insulted, and smeared.
99% chance it's coincidence but the prosecutor serves the county that previously had Joe Arpaio as sheriff.
Brett Kavanaugh is a supreme court nominee who's been accused by multiple women of having raped or assaulted them as part of a frat ritual
I understand how it can appear, but if she was assaulted then it stands to reason that seeing her attacker nominated to a lifetime appointment in a position of extreme power would be a very strong motivation to come out and tell a story that she was keeping under wraps out of fear and a desire to forget.
I get that. I can't say I personally understand what she's going/went through because I've not had that kind of thing happen to me. I'm just trying to understand my own feelings on the situation honestly. It's hard not to ask "Why now?" with these kinds of things. And if I'm asking the question, you know the entire red side of this is completely dismissing it because of that question.
Hopefully she's got a better moral compass than Arpaio. Taking the stand in your own defense in a trial is generally a very bad idea precisely because a prosecutor can pick apart people even if they're innocent.
That's the entire reason they hired her and to reduce the optics of old men questioning her.
I think this post from some live coverage summarizes it pretty well. From the National Institute of Justice, Ford’s reasons for not talking about the alleged assault sound like a lot of the common ones given: Self-blame or guilt. Shame, embarrassment, or desire to keep the assault a private matter. Humiliation or fear of the perpetrator or other individual’s perceptions. Fear of not being believed or of being accused of playing a role in the crime. Lack of trust in the criminal justice system. Brett Kavanaugh Hearing
On a side note. This is quite possibly the worst kind of live stream to have commenting enabled.
Wow, that response to "how do you know it was him". She's not going to put up with stupid questions this time around.
https://wtop.com/dc/2018/09/liberty-to-send-300-students-to-dc-to-support-kavanaugh/ LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) — Several hundred Liberty University students are planning to travel to Washington to support Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. The News & Advance reports Liberty President Jerry Falwell Jr. made the announcement at Wednesday morning’s convocation. Three women have accused Kavanaugh of sexual misconduct decades ago, allegations he has denied. On Thursday, both Kavanaugh and one of his accusers, California college professor Christine Blasey Ford, are to testify before a Senate committee. Falwell noted that students from Kavanaugh’s alma mater, Yale University, would be at the Capitol to protest. In Virginia, Liberty is known among the public university students to be a cult. Liberty was founded by COnservative pundit and known crazyman Jerry Falwell
Wow both senators from Vermont, Sanders and Patrick Leahy, seem pretty fiery
Seems like Vermont has the right idea about what they're doing politically, honestly.
the fact the white house attempted to push a conspiracy theory about a "Kavanaugh-lookalike" is goddamn insane.
