In 2016, I thought I'd found the most pedantic newspaper campaign of all time when The Sun launched a crusade to get the outside covers of British passports changed from burgundy to blue.
BUT STEP ASIDE, THE SUN:

THAT'S RIGHT! Showing true courage, the Daily Star has managed to devote roughly half of its front page to a declaration of victory in a campaign against a proposed name change for Heinz Salad Cream. Thank god we have these twats to stand up for what's right and proper in this country.

This clearly surpasses the Sun's campaign, which involved journalists carrying a gigantic blue passport around Westminster to raise support, and so I hereby award the Daily Star the UK Heavyweight Pedantic Newspaper Campaign Award.

What the fuck is salad cream?
Something to make salad unhealthy enough to be consumed by the wank rag readership.
its a cream that goes on salad while also being a worse mayonnaise
Ditto, I know what salad dressing is, but not salad "cream". Sounds like shaving cream or something.
From what ive heard imagine a slightly stronger less sweet and less thick miracle whip. Thats how some folks described it to me.
it's fucking grim is what it is
What the fuck is a miracle whip
The youtube pooper in me can't read "SOS' without giggling
tastes like cheap mayo with a healthy dose of vinegar.
A crap newspaper campaigned for a crap condiment. How fitting.
Mayonnaise substitute
