I mean, I can kinda see it yeah. Tom's a pretty good actor, right?
Well he's like the nicest guy in Hollywood after all
The only person wholesome enough to play Mr. Rogers.
Works for me.
I was confused for a second because I thought this was about the movie that had already come out this year that definitely didn't star Tom Hanks. Hanks is definitely wholesome enough for the role, it's just a bit odd when movies like this come in pairs.
I am fine with this but I think he will still be overshadowed by Fred Rodgers. There's a charm in Fred that really I have not seen come from Tom Hanks. He's a nice guy and a good actor but there's just something about Fred's story and the way he presents things that I do not think Tom will be able to hold a candle to. I could be wrong but either way I look forward to seeing how he does.
who?
It won't be the same, but I think that's okay. If Fred was replaceable, he wouldn't be as special and memorable. I think Hanks will do a fine job, but I don't think he is expecting to absolutely be 1:1 to the real thing. The important thing is that its respectful and that the story is worth telling.
The voice actor for your favorite childhood hero Woody™
he was a very well known children's television show host known for his very wholesome attitude, you probably wouldn't know who he was outside of america and maaybe the uk

Wow i really fucked that title up.
"Rogers"
Not
"Rodgers"
Boy now I really hope Hanks isnt secretly an awful guy.
Tom Hanks could probably play any white guy on the planet and still look the part and play it well with seemingly very little effort.
I've come to the conclusion that this is likely due to all white males secretly being Tom Hanks, whether they realize it or not. In fact I'm not entirely sure that this is limited only to white people or even males, we could all very well just be Tom Hanks doing a very good job of convincing others that he's not Tom Hanks.
