• Epic Games accidentally adds boob physics to Fortnite. Quickly patches them out

Fortnite Season 6 implements numerous big changes in the battle royale mode of the game, at least one of which is completely unintentional on Epic's part: new breast physics. We've reached out to Epic to clarify whether or not they're being completely patched out or simply subdued, but the company is not able to specify its plans right now. https://twitter.com/Agony/status/1045301145592193024? https://twitter.com/FortniteGame/status/1045388730851348483 https://www.gamespot.com/articles/fortnites-embarrassing-new-breast-physics-will-be-/1100-6462109/
"Accidentally"
idk, they test a lot of stuff with fornite I wouldn't be surprised if they left it in by mistake considering the game is rated 12
I love me some vidya tiddies, if there wasn't so many god-awful kids playing they'd have stayed in.
Aw cem ennnnnn, we need more pioneers in the boob/jiggle physics industy than just Team Ninja, especially given they still don't have DoA:E3 over here! We need dem jiggles!
It's strange imo theres a stigma behind jiggle physics, it's not like they don't move in real life. As long as it's not like DOA, I don't see the issue.
Yeah, I'm sorry. You don't "accidentally" add breast physics. You'd have to "accidentally" rig the breasts to their own bone(s), and then "accidentally" set up jiggle constraints for them - which, in engines like Unity and Unreal, also require you to "accidentally" create collision meshes for them, and then "accidentally" set up collision rules for them. "Accidentally" add breast physics my accidentally-jiggly ass. Just own up to it, Epic Games. This reminds me of that time when Blizzard had animations that "accidentally" enlarged Widowmaker's ass in Overwatch.
Well they probably didn't accidentally make them, like "whoops here I go rigging up this character's tits oh no now I'm importing the new mesh and rig to the game oh no why can't I stop doing this?" But they likely didn't mean to include them in the latest patch, which is where the "accidentally" part comes into play. Hopefully they just removed it because it wasn't finished yet, and not because it's lewd for breasts to do what they, well, do in reality. I could understand if it were over the top and unrealistic but c'mon, it clearly wasn't.
can't have innocent kids seeing boobs moving around god forbid
Add the ability to toggle them to the store for like $5 and boom add another billion to your profits.
I could have just been a dev joke that got shipped.
If the bone was already there in the base model, then it would need to be rigged for all models that use that base. If they originally had it in the game then disabled it, it would be a reasonable assumption that they didn't bother removing the bone itself, and just used it instead for further models using that original base. The physics constraints look pretty generic in the linked video, rather than one that was made for the outfit.
Heavens forbid a child sees a moving tit in a videogame why the fuck is this even an issue
The base rig has the bones in place to prevent bad deformation on some of the animations.
Violence good for children, boobies bad for children.
"You can shoot the boobies but God help you if they move an inch."
Can't be worse than when pubg added a cameltoe to their female models.
If the base model didn't come with the bones, then that's a lot of effort for a bored developer to go through for a prank. Seeing as they'd not only need to rig the base model, but then transpose that rigging to every relevant outfit. I don't know how Fortnite handles outfits, but honestly, even just rigging one model and outfit is more work than I think most people would put in for a prank. I'd be willing to accept the "bored dev recycled equipment jiggle code for deprecated breast bones" as an honest-to-god mispublish. But, if the bones were indeed explicitly added... Someone had serious intentions to add breast physics to the game. Maybe it was sanctioned by Epic higher-ups, but someone was determined. I am curious to see what becomes of this, I won't lie.
I wonder if maybe they added bones to improve deformation in some of the animations and someone added jiggle to it as a joke? That's the most likely solution I could see.
I wonder if this wouldn't have been an accident if Fortnite hadn't caught on with kids.

Boob physics? What, are they wanting to put the game on Steam?
I don't even like fortnite and I love this.
They will patch it back in for Thanos
One will jiggle and one won't. Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.
guys is there a way i can play fortnite on an older version? just curious haha
Maybe it implemented alongside the animation system a long time ago, but they accidentally re-enabled it or something
Correct me if I'm wrong (since I'm still taking a beginner's class), would that imply that in early stages they had a switch statement to turn on/off boob jiggle code when they needed to? If that's the case that would make a bit of sense rather than one horny/jokey developer, plus it implies that if they wanted to they could switch it back on if they wanted it in the next update.
It may have been connected to one of the new skins where it's a guy riding on a fake llama that also has that types of physics
They do trailers for the newer seasons and if it was rendered in UE4 it's not that much of a stretch that a dev just toggled the jiggle for the cinematic 'value' and forgot to disable it.
