Kinzinger’s measure to reform Nuclear Regulatory Commission adva..
If enacted, H.R. 1320 also would cap the amount of the annual fee that may be charged to an operating reactor, which NRC could waive if the cap compromises its safety and security mission, according to the summary

H.R.1320
I got to see this bill in person get moved for a full house vote over the summer. Hope the Senate gets this through without much of a hassle.
Fuckin NUKE Act, swear American politicians spend more time on their bills' titles than their contents
It's politics, you gotta have a flashy name to have a higher chance to pass. Nobody cares about H.R. 1320, but if you give it a flashy and relevant title like NUKE act, then people look at it.
We get acts like the PATRIOT Act and AMERICAN FREEDOM Act, neither of which have much to do with the name, but the name sounds amazing. A self respecting politician would think twice about voting no on something called the AMERICAN FREEDOM Act, their supporters would eat them alive. It's horrible.
It should be illegal to name bills anything other than a serial number. Sways too much public opinion because humans tend to be stupid animals tbh.
Seems like a decent bill, too. I'd support it in a perfect world.
Anyone know what sort of riders are clinging to the coattails on this one?
I read through it. The bill doesn't seem to have any riders outside the scope of nuclear regulation and fees. Nuclear energy in recent years has been a bipartisan issue that both parties want to address, so it makes sense to me that they aren't trying to play political games with the nuclear bills when the US is losing hard on nuclear development.
Besides naming bills, is there literally anything the US government excels at compared to other countries?
Wasting money on a military force while civilians can't afford health care.
Prison population
Okay besides killing people and ruining people's lives, both for profit, is there anything else?
Once upon a time, the US was a powerful bastion of liberal democracy and stood as a shining example to other nations. Trump has singlehandedly walked back that reputation and made the US an unreliable, touchy, self-interested global actor who rips up deals and threatens military action and then offers to negotiate deals to replace the ones it just spontaneously ripped up.
So that's off the list.
well as long as its not boosting coal by some coincidence, anything to improve nuclear power in this country is good.
Legalizing bribery?
