This is the first loss of a F-35 in the history of the program
I'm impressed it took this long for a crash.
The announced per-unit price tag for the Marine Corps F-35B was $115.5 million.
Glad the guy made it out alive but I wouldn't want to be in his skin right now, first crash as well.
Lets just hope it wasn't user error, that would be extra bad.
A single crash 12 years after the type's first flight and without a fleet wide grounding is an excellent record for a fighter aircraft
This is the B variant as well, which usually gets the most flak.
its not like we have actually had lots of active squadrons in that 12 years. the marines just got these 2 years ago.
No, clearly this is proof that the F-35 is a waste of taxpayer money, and we should just used modified F-18 hornets for the next half a century!
(You know it's coming.)
This is why the Marines can never have anything nice. Guarantee you the crash investigation team is going to open up the avionics compartment and find it stuffed full of crayons.
