• New Gunpowder mechanics

Hello! In this thread I'm gonna share my idea about new mechanics for gunpowder. Requiring only sulfur and charcoal to make gunpowder isn't realistic. In real life gunpowder requires; sulfur, charcoal and KNO3 (Potassium Nitrate). Now I can't really think of how you can get KNO3 in Rust since in real life making KNO3 is time consuming process. I would like to see your ideas too in comments guys! Thanks for reading!
Rust has nothing to do with real life, if they started to make this into realistic game they would have to revamp everything. But i kinda agree and would like to see raiding getting harder.
That's true joonas but they can slowly change the game mechanics.
In "real life" I am unable to carry 100 trees, 100 blocks of stone and metal fragments and use them to build a metal "base" complete with electronic lock and metal window bars. I am also unable IRL to construct an assault rifle, pistol, shotgun, ammunition, gunpowder, furnace etc etc etc, This is a GAME and although some "realism" is added to make it more "realistic" it has nothing to do with real life. IF Facepunch changed the game mechanics to make them actually "real" it would be impossible to play it. For instance you would have to be able to make each component of a basic bow with the correct wood,be able to make the bowstring, be able to make straight arrows and harden the tip so that it can penetrate and kill an animal, you would then have to butcher the meat so that it is edible and cook and cure the meat, and cure the hide for clothing, You would also have to be able to identify the correct ore bearing rocks and smelt them to make metal , then you would have to be able to shape and join it to create usable sheets for building, I could go on and mention the hundreds of items you would need to make and survive from making nails to bullet casings but what is the point, This is a game.
If anything you could add a salt mine to the game when the food revamp arrives. Salt mines also give potassium nitrate or whatever, if that's the realistic touch you want. But let's be honest Rust isn't much about realism. plus bringing a whole new mechanic to a game for realism, when it's nice and balanced, might fuck it up really badly.
