Carrasco becomes bike racing's first female world champion
Ana Carrasco has become the first ever female motorcycle road racing world champion, after clinching the World Supersport 300 title in a dramatic finale in France.
The Spaniard moved to the fledgling WSS300 series last year following stints in the Moto3 world championship, becoming the first female rider to score points in the class as well as the Moto2 class of the CEV Championship.
The article says bike racing, but AFAIK no woman has ever been world champion in any other racing category.
Woah sweet, bike racing aswell, thats some mad shit right there.
Offtopic, but cool ass bike in the pic
This is theultimate goal for that bike seat sniffing man
hey don't objectify her - this is a feminist thread
I have to agree with you the Ninja 400 is a fab bike. I bought one last week.

On the main topic though if I remember correctly she did alright with Moto3 and then struggled in Moto2 racing causing her to move over to WSS300 where she has found success. Either way it is great to see a female world champion.
Does it goes like it looks? Damn I kind want one now...
what's the point of this post?
He posted her picture because she's cute but left no text so that if it backfired he could backpedal in any direction he wants to
It's a 400 and not a 1000 so it wont rip your face off with power but it will do 120mph and 0-60 in 4.2 seconds so it's more than enough for me on the road.
that sounds fantastic, at least to me, not used to mind bending 0-60's like that
I don't see anything wrong with acknowledging that she's cute. Cute people are great!
Idk, regardless of what she looks like, it’s always good to be able to fit a face to the name. Makes it a lot more personable
idk, a woman just did something for the first time in history. can we refrain from immediately discussing her appearance
If a really cute dude achieved something, I'd probably note his cuteness first too, I think. It's a natural response, we're only human. And I see plenty of people discussing her achievement in this thread already, in ways that are very clearly out of my depth.
idk, I just like cute women, i guess
This is actually quite significant. One often-cited argument for why women don’t typically compete in motorsports is how physically demanding it can be - race cars often don’t have power steering, and closed cockpit race cars often also do not have air conditioning (with the drivers having to sit in cabins that can literally reach 70c/160f). And racing a motorbike would be even more demanding - having to constantly shift your body weight around the motorbike at speed, fighting against G forces and air resistance in the process.
But Ana Carrasco proves that women can do it, and do it well. Hopefully the idea of women in motorsport can become normalised in time. And not have people point out ‘how cute’ she is, when really people should congratulate her on becoming a world champion..
I'm only human and seem to manage to not delve into appearances when a woman does something notable not related to appearances
your man example means very little because men don't have a history as old as time of being reduced to their appearances
Actually I would say few racing series don't have powersteering, I think only nascar and indycar really don't, all major formulas and prototype classes have it.
I feel like the ratio of people who make posts along the lines of "wow those wacky feminists sure will make a big deal over this" and proceed to make a big deal over something do it way more often than the actual wacky feminists who are usually literally whos on Twitter with more time than brains.
In incredible odds, another female driver did a first the day beforehand on the 29th: 17-year-old Hailie Deagan won a NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race, the first time a woman has won since the subseries' foundation in 1954, over 64 years ago. (The only other female NASCAR driver to have victories in a subseries is Shawna Robinson)
Reminds me how a new record was set on the Pikes Peak and the Nürburgring just a few days apart, both had previous record that were really old.
Pretty sure not the first female world champion in motorsports considering Shirley Muldowney took 3 NHRA top fuel season championships in '77 '80 and '82. Brittany Force also took one in 2017, and I'm pretty sure there was a women that took championships in NHRA pro-stock a few years ago.
Do NHRA champions count as world champions?
