It's maybe not too entirely wrong that Trump helped this along, as much as I hate the cunt the strange love affair may have facilitated this to a degree.
What a strange time.
It's moreso that the South saw how fucked of a job Trump did trying to make a deal, and made serious moves towards peace on the peninsula on their own.
But a large part is thanks to president Moon
I can't believe I'm saying this, but even if Trump just provided the nudge, get should get a little credit.
So credit him with fucking up so bad that a different country's government had to take the exact same matter into their hands and accomplish it successfully
No doubt, just shouldn't forget all of his moronic shit involved with his volatile actions towards much of East Asia.
It's like getting t-boned by a drunk driver and then when you're in the hospital getting your x-rays done, the doctors find a small, easy to remove tumor in its very early stages
Honestly, I hope the DMZ is kept simply for the fact it's an amazing nature reserve.
Yeah, if NK actually follows through and doesn't use this like their previous times they've said they'll stop (and continued regardless) Trump deserves some credit. His administration is horrendous but a broken clock etc.
Wow, I misread that title and thought someone made going to the department of motor vehicles a little more complicated than it already is.
I'm not sure Kim would have been open to talks as he has been now that him and T-Dawg have buddied up. Trump may not have done any paperwork but he gave Kim enough pats on the head to, dare I say it, bring some trust between the US and NK. NK have been brainwashing their citizens that the Americans are coming to kill them all since the Korean war. This is one hell of a turn, I wonder if the next president will be able to handle it in a similar war or will be forced to start condemning Kim over the humanitarian issues.
If facepunch is actually willing to give trump a credit for something, that probably means he actually deserves a nobel prize just for that
The hate boner on here for trump is so large people refuse to give him credit when he deserves it lmao
buh buh buh meanie orange head
Well it's a bit hard to praise someone who's unable to admit ever being wrong about anything
I'm not asking people to praise him, just to not be an idiot and say "well uhhhhhhhhhhh in my opinion he's bad therefore this has nothing to do with him!!!!!!"
credit he 'deserves' when he constantly seeks to take credit for things he did not do
Tbh he deserves more of a nobel prize for this than Obama for his nobel prize.
But then if it took Trump fucking up then why didn't they just do something like this a when we had an actually competent president in office?
If Trump deserves a nobel prize so does Kim and Moon.
Tough to justify military bases in Korea when theres no foe there. Tough to sell them fuckloads of arms if theres no foe at their border.
moon has held several summits with the north, meanwhile trump had a 1 day fling and a few love letters.
Both Koreas attributed trump as having an important role to play so he deserves some credit for this. To give a very good and comparable example to Trump, Nixon had a lot of faults but he did help engineer the whole Sino-US thaw which was an incredibly massive achievement.
Put another way, if Hillary won the election I wouldn't have seen this happening (certainly I don't see a meeting ever happening between Kim and Hillary).
Nothing in this article refers to Trump's role in this, and in fact it references an agreement signed solely between South and North Korea. Do you have another article?
It is good that there is action finally being taken, but President Moon being so accepting of North Korea is pretty unnerving. North Korea should conform with the Western world without compromise. We've made deals with them for decades in favor of "peace" that had only resulted in keeping their regime just as alive and authoritarian. When I visited South Korea, I heard a lot of voices and saw staunch protests against Moon for appeasing North Korea so greatly.
It likely will be, even though they're demining it, it wont be safe as some mines will always remain.
It'd be best to still keep it as a no go zone and just keep it as a memorial to remember the conflict between the two states.
President Moon campaigned on helping improve relations with NK during their election.
This was going to happen at some point without Trump.
Trump may have helped rush it along or made it happen in this specific way, but I am completely confident that President Moon would have been able to extend some sort of olive branch to North Korea without the US's help.
The difference is almost every reasonable person on the Left thinks the Obama nobel prize was a joke, while the MAGA hat people think Trump deserves awards by default just because he's Trump.
The idea that trump did this is idiotic
