looks cool and Ill probably give it a spin. but I have gotten so accustomed to all the different loadouts possible in modern tf2 that it will still feel strange
I'll be honest that has to be the worst gameplay I've seen for a trailer yet.
The part with the Sniper may have been to show off how 2008 TF2's lighting and weapon models were better, but idk
How many times has a "TF2 but how it was before!" project been attempted, now?
TF2 Vintage, TF2 Classic branched off to it's own thing. They paid the Steam Direct fee this time.
I don't give a fuck about the models and the lighting, all I care about is a TF2 devoid of hats and millions of guns.
Its only ten or so days away so no need to get hyped. I'll check it out when its released.
Awwwwwww yes, finally I can go back in time to the good old days of TF2 when it wasn't a shitty dress-up simulator with a million crappy guns and was actually fun. Vanilla TF2 > Modern TF2
As much as I would like to relive some of the old TF2 there have been some gameplay changes/addition that improved the game. Spy actually able to change disguise's weapon, Kritzkrieg, Teleport levels, carrying engi buildings... I haven't played TF2 in a long time but some pretty useful stuff was added, too, over the years. I can't find any info what this mod brings but totally vanilla 2008 TF2 cuts some gameplay features we perhaps forgot weren't there at the start.
20 seconds of nothing, followed by 30 seconds of bad looking gameplay, followed by 30 more seconds of nothing. Whoever made the trailer apparently wasn't looking to grab the viewers' attention.
Fully Vanilla TF2 sucked. Fight me.
I don't think just hosting an old version of TF2 will re-create the old magic of TF2.
This reminds me a few years back I tried to get a friend to try out TF2 but he wasn´t the sharpest tool in the drawer so he brought the Xbox-version. I got to try out six-nade Demo at least
TF2 peaked with pl_badwater and cp_steel
I have 2200 hours in TF2 and I still can't play a match of Steel.
Wait, how is this going to work on Steam? Is it like a separate download with all the game files or does it hook into the main game? I mean, I know TF2 is already free-2-play but is Valve really okay with people more or less re-releasing an old version of their already on-the-platform game?
2011 TF2 was the peak.
its the paints i hate the most Yes i'm talking to you lafonche_229 your lime-green medic looks like ass
I literally can't find enjoyment in this kind of old TF2. The place where engineer can exploit every map but can't haul buildings or level a teleporter, and Pyro can't airblast being the weakest class in the game by a large margin.
Afaik it's a seperate game, has its own steam app number and forums. They paid the direct fee and Valve has okayed mods of Hl2 and other games to be on Steam
Their discord is here if you want to get more information: https://discord.gg/BDEDkK Some notes: Steam store page is still in the process of verification The TF2 assets are included with the mod Civilian class (which is a bug done via join_class civilian console command) is being made into a real class Extremely strict about keeping TF2008 gameplay aspects, but adding some fixes such as animation bugs or game crashers The developer of this mod is the reason that custom hat and custom WEAPON plugins got completely fucked over in TF2, he has been permabanned on facepunch and Alliedmodders before, so take this with a grain of salt.
TF2 was best during the year that you played it most. Once you started playing other things more, TF2 got worse. Once you stopped playing TF2 altogether, it became an awful game. It's like that XKCD comic where every technology that came out when you were 25 or younger was new and exciting, and everything that came out after you were 30 is terrible and useless.
Badwater and goldrush FOR LIFE.
Nope, try again. I played TF2 almost exclusively. Then they just kept adding stupid shit, imo, like fucking hats and other collectibles that you had to unlock or get lucky with a drop or whatever. That shit completely turned me off and I stopped playing MP games pretty much for good at that point.
Vanilla TF2 doesn't even have the fucking sandvich. I don't understand how people can go and say that it's superior to modern TF2, when the game is just as unbalanced if not more so - just in different ways. Demoman, Soldier, and Scout are even more dominant in vanilla than they are in the current game, because they're the three classes whose stock loadouts are basically perfect as they are.
The Sandvich, Hauling, and Payload are pretty fucking critical elements of what makes TF2, well, TF2 in my opinion.
iirc an early version of payload was implemented in the 2008 leaked code.
is that how people modded payload into the xbox version? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nH76ehloVk4
Regardless of your standing on balance or all the micro-transactions, the game undeniably was not maintained as it should have been on a technical level. It objectively got worse as time went on simply on the basis that they did little to keep the game functional and consistent.
