Can't wait for cancer to be cured
we have cured a cancer just not all cancer
Cancer immunotherapy is as close to a "cure for cancer" as it gets, considering the generality of its mechanism.
From what I understand cancer is difficult to 'cure' because cancer is just uncontrolled division of cells and there are many many ways to trigger that state.
In related new Gordon Freeman is disappointed about not being recognised Unfortunately it seems Gordon Freeman got no recognition for his contribution, although what a theoretical physicist was doing working on immunotherapy is beyond me. But Allison and Honjo were not alone: others also made important early discoveries about checkpoint inhibitors, notes Gordon Freeman, an immunologist at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, Massachusetts, who was disappointed not to be recognized for his contributions. Freeman, along with immunologists Arlene Sharpe at Harvard Medical School in Boston and Lieping Chen at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, studied PD-1 and a molecule that binds to it called PD-L1. Jesus christ he's even from Massachusetts, what alternate dimension did we just step into
Xen’s fuck shed.
I suppose that's true but calling something a cure for cancer is like saying antibiotics are a cure for all infections, its a class of diseases that will each have a unique treatment that works the best.
I mean calling antibiotics "a cure for infections" is justified, even though some of time (actually a lot of time) antibiotics don't end up saving your patient. If we end up with reasonable success rates for most cancers with immunotherapy, I don't really see the need for languages contrivances. Obviously sometimes more specific terms can be needed, but sometimes good enough is, well, good enough.
This fucking timeline I swear. Amazing work all over though.
Give that man a crowbar as a award
Well, I guess we are in the universe where Freeman finds a treatment for cancer instead of causing the resonance cascade. In the alternate universe where resonance cascade happend, there was a rift created. It causes various unusual effects on surrounding universes, including making us able to see the events as a plot of famous video game.
