But the Chinese embassy posted on its website in English saying her ejection was "completely unacceptable". "In a country that boasts freedom of speech, it is puzzling that the Chinese journalist should encounter obstruction in such a way and even assault at the fringe event when she simply raised a question and expressed her opinions," it said. Huh, can't say I haven't heard this argument before. Still, rich coming from a country that doesn't understand freedom.
That is a galaxy braun meme in the flesh.

Until China actually leaves its status as an undemocratic shithole, countries will never take its concerns and complaints about our democracy seriously.
A girl disappears from China for pouring ink on President Xi and China has the nerve to criticise us for ejecting members from events who are physically violent? What next? Tiananmen Square protesters were shot because the military were exercising their freedom of speech via firearms? Ridiculous...
A former CCTV journalist wrote in FP about some of her possible motivations.
tianamen square didn't happen but hey US stop militarizing your police ang gunning down protestors in Fergison. I believe there was something like that said back then anyways.
What's with the Chinese being unmannered. Tourists, now journalists?
Interesting, I poked around in CGTN and it appears to be spun into the journalist being the victim, no mention of her assault. I also hung around that site for a bit. Man, it is true, full of propaganda and fallacies. Apparently they are relying on people's ignorance of the term "human rights" to make arguments, continuously targeting issues such as poverty and wages and nothing else.
Daily reminder that China is a shithole
Difficult to answer without resorting to stereotypes but I'll take the plunge. From what I've seen online I think people (perhaps an unfair representation) people seem to care less about others. Like those videso where lorrys hit kids and just carry on driving 70000 kids getting kidnapper per year Many scams (like tricking people into paying 1000s of dollars for coffee) Serving shitty food (like the sewer oil and wax eggs) low quality buildings, looking like derelicts within a year and entire skyscrapers falling over in storms General low regard for people, like in restaurants you clean your own cutlery I also think there is (perhaps a noisey minority) lots of racism. Non chinese cannot become citizens, mob mentality against foreigners (a crowd will side against you even if you are not in the wrong), racism against ethnic minorities in china etc. This might manifest as racism or arrogance against other nations when abroad. There is that "mei banfa" saying there too, which means nothing can be done. It's like a cultural apathy. It's fatalistic but not in a good way, it's used when people can't be arsed doing anything when there really is something which can be done. Pure laziness. Also (from what I've seen online) they are very materialistic, other people don't matter. I feel that materialism often comes along with arrogance. This might be all a load of gross generalisation (tho I've tried to stress this might be a minority of stuff which is not representative) When I was in new zealand outside of tourist season people talked lots about chinese tourists leaving a mess, camping where they shouldn't and leaving crap everywhere, a cop i talked to said that most of the traffic issues he encounters are from chinese tourists (tho that might be more him than them) When I was in shanghai (admittedly only for a transfer) the people in the airport seemed fairly cold and one of the desk people seemed downright ignorant. Saw me at the desk after having processed someone, didn't acknowledge me, checked their phone, chatted with person next to them, checked phone again then processed me - I wasn't in a rush but had I been it'd have been a most unpleasant situation - I'm wary to judge from 1 bad experience though but it's certainly made me question anyone who says chinese work ethic is better than ours. (an alt right friend of mine used to fawn chinese work ethic for some reason)
I see this as an example of the "never play defense" strategy that became very popular around the time Trump got into power. Hypocrisy and projecting are evidently effective in politics.
If they want business in the world's fastest growing market, they sure as fuck will. China is currently testing the waters of their soft power through making scandals of everything that happens abroad, to see who bends and punishing countries who don't bend.
Yeah but basically everything china makes sucks. It's all knockoffs of western brands and 2nd-rate. China cheats at everything and the quality of their products show it
Flip your keyboard over. Take a look at the back of your phone. Read the tag in the neck of your shirt. Look behind the battery-cover of your console controller.
made in china, vietnam/korea, vietnam, vietnam
If countries could actually do business with China sure, so far we are actually quite limited in what we can do. They are replaceable and already are being replaced at some levels with factories being moved to neighbouring countries to evade Chinese law. To be quite honest, we don't know what the fuck is even going on in China any day.
I should've said "everything they design sucks". They can BUILD western made shit just fine
Fan Bingbing, one of the biggest stars in China, was accused of tax evasion and hasn't been seen in 3 months. The Chinese media were also banned from reporting on tax shit for people in the entertainment industry around the same time. China disappeared one of their biggest stars, they only care about what benefits the government.
There's a number of products from China wholesale that don't suck considerable amounts of dick. A lot of their more respected phone manufacturers make decent products after all. There will be a lot of shit come out of China though due to their nature as the world's manufacturing dumping ground and a very loose concept of copyright protections.
China designs a lot of cheap shit for their own market, but they definitely have the engineering clout to make good (or at least on-par) products for export nowadays. Just look DJI or Huawei. China isn't purely a country with cheap labour nowadays. Also China has definitely stepped up their "We're big boys attitude", really irks me that the Danish government (among many others) have made concessions just to cozy up with them.
