“The counter-measures would be to take out the missiles that are in development by Russia in violation of the treaty,” the envoy said, mistakenly referring to the missile in question as a ballistic missile, rather than a cruise missile. She also suggested the missile, known as 9M729, was still in development, but the US accused Russia of deploying it last year.

“Getting them to withdraw would be our choice, of course. But I think the question was what would you do if this continues to a point where we know that they are capable of delivering. And at that point we would then be looking at a capability to take out a missile that could hit any of our countries in Europe and hit America in Alaska.”

Russia isn't some tin pot dictatorship you can push around like North Korea, Russia is close to on par with the US, striking Russia is a good way to get yourself fucked up.

No, this statement can in NO WAY be used against the USA in the future. Russia and are known for never holding a grudge, and shall let this slide.

Let's face it, it's going to head that way sooner or later. Russia is going to keep stomping about, doing what they want until someone forces them to sit the fuck down.

I don't want war, but Russia sure seems to, given how they act every single day for the past several years.

You don't need to go to war to oppose an hostile nation's influence, you just gotta elect a competent government to counter it.

Guess where the USA went wrong. Russia is doing all it does because they know the west is too divided and in disarray to do anything about it.
