i remember when i liked this game
Why don't you. You can literally pick it up anytime and play.
I want to like this game and I kinda do but tripwire can't into balance also way too many uggo af cosmetics, and lootboxes really got on my nerves
KF2 is a real far-cry from the simplicity and balance of KF, it's a damn shame since KF has its own problems, but way not worth the trouble of keeping 50 GiB of microtransactions on my HDD.
Is Harold Lott back in the game yet? https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/222725/196f431a-772e-483d-86cc-850f3a5f0972/lods2.jpg
I don't regret my purchase at all, but the schizophrenic balance model, wild overcompensation for player behaviors with draconian changes and MT$ content being physically larger than the game content just make me fatigued.
Microtransaction content only encompasses about 1/5th of the game FYI, and I'm giving the skins really high file estimations for that. Weapon skins are basically a non-issue, the larger bulk being character model aesthetics. If they are similar to a mesh that already exists, they recycle the mesh and the texture changes ( ends up with lower size ) Maps take up over half the disk space, and I can't see that getting smaller anytime soon. It's almost 2019, the game has been out for over a year, people need to really calm down about the microtransaction issues. Let's focus instead on why the fuck they are adding a cross-promo item that is basically just a better version of the katana. Or why they are working on a weapon upgrade system that nobody asked for. Granted the latter is interesting and can be cool if they do it right, but the former is just a mistake that people complained about before.
I hate the micro transaction shit, but the gameplay itself never gets old. Also slow motion gun porn animated at 242 frames per second
I dislike the market and micro-transaction stuff too but I understand it's somewhat of a thing to keep the game profitable. I usually just jump in the game whenever I feel the need to shoot up some zeds with pals, the gunplay, gore and stuff is still really fun and as long as you ignore everything else, it's a good romp every now and then.
gettin some serious Borderlands vibes from this! I gotta pick this game up again.
TW actually got into contact with the guy, because they wanted him to voice him, but the guy turned down the offer.
I think people care too much about microtransactions.
I think people forget that KF1 had microtransactions too and that they were actual guns that effected game balance but, oh no, this one has ugly hats
You're forgetting that kf1's MTX'$ literally broke game balance several times, and I really don't feel like putting up swinging balance all over again with shinier gfx when there's other stuff out there that scratches the co op horde itch without all the drama or weirdness from the devs, and then subsequent (over)reactions from the players. I just wanna click on a mouse and make monsters dead while my character does cool stuff with some spicy bants.
When I bought KF1 for friends I also bought every single weapon pack for them because I didn't want them to go to the shop and see the stupid fucking fat DLC tags next to the weapons listed in the shop, so they wouldn't feel left out or confused about something. That's easily the most frustrating, cash-grabbing, mind-numbingly stupid thing Tripwire did with Killing Floor 1. It royally pissed me off when I first saw it and just thinking about it still makes my blood boil. I'll take silly cosmetics over being told, "See that cool gun that guy is using? You can't use it unless you fork over more cash.", let alone having to tell a friend that. It's really embarrassing.
I absolutely despise leveling, I want all my characters max level right now but I can't have that so I can't enjoy the hardest difficulties so I can't be bothered to play it for the excessive grind.
I'm assuming you've already been playing for a good while and pretty much know the flow of the game and more annoyed you can't spread out with the different classes on HoE. Considering KF2 has 25 levels instead of 6 like KF1 and there's more classes I don't blame you on being annoyed at the grind. If you don't mind being a bit dirty, this levelling map still works with the latest update. Just extract the folder to steamapps/common/killingfloor2/kfgame/brewedpc/maps, and with the LevellingModPrestiege.u file, just place it on .u file in .u file in steamapps/common/killingfloor2/kfgame/brewedpc/ Play a solo offline game with the default survival settings on normal, pick the kf-levelling map and step on the tiny gorefast. It'll spawn a bunch of zeds that die quick and should get you from to level 25 with just a few kills
I wanted to like KF2 so much but it's honest to god so boring and none of their "fixes" did anything. They just added more stuff until nothing was comprehensible.
I mean, that's the entire thing about Killing Floor, it's just 'Survive X waves' in its purest form. You can't really do anything more with it aside from improving things that are not directly affecting the core game i.e the progression system. I regularly take 3 month breaks with KF2 before binging an entire month with it because that's how it is. It's a mindless wave shooter that's very easy to burn out, but hot damn is it not one of the shiniest and most refined mindless wave shooters out there.
Never had more fun with the game than when it was in early access, back when you could somewhat dodge attacks from scrakes and FPs. I know it was unintended, but I wish they did something fun with it instead of deciding to fix and remove it.
Parry? Shotgun juke?
Those aren't that effective for every class. I guess I want something that allows the player to be more offensive, like the dodging in Vermintide.
If you really want you can download a levelling map but keep in mind jumping into a HoE match as someone who doesn't have 20-50 hours under their belt can often lead to one being dead weight.
KF1 at higher levels required a lot of coordination. The core gameplay was great but I hate how KF2 is mind numbing due to the removal of anything good about the original game's shooting.
Don't forget all of the berserker reworks
I'm usually okay with most reasons people have for preferring KF1, but hot damn is this just absolutely wrong on both an aesthetic and gameplay point of view.
I played KF1 and 2 back to back a few times and I can definetly say KF2's gunplay is a lot better than 1's. That's not to say 1 is bad, but I think people tend to forget how jank KF1 actually was at times.
As much as the microtransactions sucked in KF1, they were all near the very end of it's lifecycle. And they were probably farming for cash to help fund KF2. Compare how janky and ugly the first game was to how nice looking and well polished 2 is, that money didn't come from nowhere. I seriously doubt as popular as they were, Red Orchestra 2 and Rising Storm single handedly funded KF2 which came out 5 years after RO2 and 3 years after Rising Storm, Rising Storm 2 coming out less than a year after KF2.
I don't know what's more ridiculous, that there's a challenge for doing 25 endless waves on hard or higher, or that I already did it.
