"will blow you mind"
anyone whom followed the whole Bioware/UbiSoft fuckery during TORtanic and #GG will not be blown by anything, this is all AAA normative now, and has been for quite a while.
This is what happens when you put marketing in charge of your company. This is ALWAYS what happens when you put marketing in charge of your company.
Does he have anything to back himself up whenever he cries "BULLSHIT"? I do agree that forced diversity isn't great, but he seems like he has got his own agenda.
Own agenda is a bit of an understatement

I'm more bothered by his choice of media player. "Film & TV".... really?

Wait, what exactly is wrong with this? They are most definitely factors that influence negative perception of gaming. Whether or not it's a warranted perception is irrelevant, it's still important for a company to discuss.
They're not inherent to gaming and at least one (link to violence) is a complete fabrications. I still think it should be worked on and Ubisoft / Blizzard has done a decent job so far, nobody likes assholes except other assholes. But to say it's a problem with videogames is disingenuous, you can find some pretty terrible shit all over the internet, anonymity does that.
I like how the "Factors influencing the negative perception of the gaming industry" slide is entirely blaming gamers and developers and there's nothing about how employees are treated like shit, how publishers have made squeezing blood from stones a daily event, or how the game press are willing to blacklist people who speak out against them.
Nah, it's all those racist, sexist gamers and developers who go around attacking normies.
Like I said, it doesn't matter if it's complete fabrication. The perception is still there especially among certain religious groups. It's important for a company to take such a perception in mind if they want to improve their market efficiency
What a dummy, he didn't even put the X right on where the eye would be on the Twitter bird!
I don't think that's the case. It's obviously a marketing meeting.
It's like Mountain Dew at a meeting about negative perception regarding soda and one of the categories was "Mountain Dew kills sperm cells". Even if the perception is illogical, they still have to take it into consideration if they want to market towards changing that perception.
There's no point in that unless we want to retire damn near everything except puzzle/platformers and simulations and keep it PG-13. I don't think banning Grand Theft Auto will improve the look of the games industry in the eyes of people who already hate it.
Or I don't know maybe fund research and ad campaigns to change or disprove the negative perceptions?
I'm not saying those things don't influence public perception. I'm saying I find the typical lack of self reflection in corporate culture as funny as I find it tiring.
You'll never see a company meeting where they say "Hey, maybe people don't like us because of all those shitty things we did."
The slide doesn't say anything about company operations, it's about the gaming industry in general.
Yes, and large companies in the games industry are seen as being pretty shit in general.
I don't think you realize that this is a survey provided by multiple developers.
Yes, I know. That doesn't change the fact that a slide describing the negative perception of the games industry has most of the 'problems' being consumers and not the industry itself.
Consumers and culture are a big part of any industry. It's important for a company to consider how their consumer base is perceived.
Yes, I was saying they should look at themselves as well as their customers and developers.
I doubt this is the only market research meeting Ubisoft has ever done.
Marketing talks like these are a dime a dozen at large companies. the large, large majority of employees really don't give a shit and see it as nothing more than an extra coffee break where they won't have to crunch code for a while and can just zone out pretending they give a shit about marketing people serving up their Utopian world views. At the end of the day, even the marketing people are just working for the man and they too stare at the clock waiting for that last minute to tick away.
We all know full well that if they could invent a machine to write code, every employee no matter whether they had a dick and balls, a pussy, whether they were white, black, asian or purple, whether they preferred to suck cocks or lick clits, it wouldn't matter jack shit because every single one would get booted out of the door faster than you could spell diversity.
And finally, if you want to grow a better gaming community and more respect for it, you should stop constantly putting a spotlight on the toxic elements.
You want to fix "toxic masculinity"? Here's a suggestion. Ban everyone under the age of 18 from playing games that are rated M for mature. I guarantee you you would instantly cut down toxic masculinity by a very large amount and prove that what these people are calling "toxic masculinity" is really for the most part just a bunch of kids being retarded.. But those hypocrites would never do that, because despite the fact that by their own rules those people shouldn't even be allowed to play those games, young kids are far too large a demographic bringing far too many $didleydollaridoos$ into the industry to cut them off.
Companies can only see one color, and that's green.
