https://www.cnn.com/2018/10/03/politics/richard-ojeda-west-virginia-trump-country-congress/index.html "Right now it seems that it's a circus. It's all about Twitter," Ojeda said of Trump in a recent interview in Lewisburg, where he spent several days at the state fair. "Dude, you're the President. Don't worry about that. Focus on elevating this country." Ojeda's campaign has at times been a one-man mission to call attention to one of the most economically desolate regions of the country -- a reality that explains some of his populist positions. Ojeda loves coal jobs but loathes energy industry executives. He favors marijuana legalization because, he says, it's a way to combat "Big Pharma" and loosen opioid addiction's grip on southwestern West Virginia. He likes the generals surrounding Trump, but sees wealthy appointees like education secretary Betsy DeVos as anathema to Trump's campaign promises. "If we de-schedule it, we take it out of the hands of Big Pharma. They don't get a say in it. So let's de-schedule it, and let it go from there," Ojeda said. "Big Pharma" is one of Ojeda's go-to targets. He frequently highlights that his opponent, Miller, and her husband own pharmaceutical stock. "It's everywhere. Our towns, in some areas, look like episodes of The Walking Dead," he said. "This is a crisis. Yet we do nothing. We do nothing to Big Pharma."
The whole bit with scheduling is completely fucked anyway, and the origins are most likely entrenched in racism and hatred for the poor, based on what it targets and when it came out (right after the Civil Rights Movement). Marijuana is listed on the highest tier, among Meth and PCP, Schedule I, which is for addictive drugs with a "high potential for abuse" and "no medically accepted use". Schedule I drugs are strictly prohibited and harshly punished, which is a good way to oppress poor people and black people. I wouldn't be taking the racism angle so strongly if it weren't for one simple fact: Alcohol and Nicotine are specifically excluded from all categories. Had they not been specifically excluded by name, both drugs would fit the bill for Schedule I as they are addictive and have no medically excepted use (nicotine technically has one medically accepted use: to help people quit smoking).
Nothing makes me happier than seeing trumpalings squirm when combat vets are willing to stand against him
honestly how the DEA can legally declare pot schedule 1 still is crazy, they even approved a medical use from one component.
Also the dude survived an attack while running for senator, had to get 50+ plates in his head after someone bashed his head in with brass knuckles and tried running him over: During his 2016 state Senate campaign, Ojeda was attacked after an event by a man with brass knuckles, who then tried to run him over with a truck. It left Ojeda with 58 plates in his face. "I've been told by people, 'Ojeda, they are going to kill you.' They've already tried once,'" he said during a Facebook Live video. "You know, when I was almost murdered last year, I did not cower down. It fueled me to continue my fight. ... If God means -- if He means for me to be murdered up some holler someplace to open the eyes of every one of you all out there, then make no mistakes about it: I'll drive up that holler. I'm not going to be scared."
there are massive companies in multiple industries lobbying against weed and hemp, unfortunately.
but its always the left that is militant and vilant.
Anyone that says that should learn how the FBI funded right-wing American extremist groups in the in the 60s.
It really feels like nothing in this country exists because it's logical, only because it's profitable to a major corporation.
"I like people who weren't run over. He's a war hero because he was run over!"
Have some sources for this? I'm curious
I'd vote for this guy.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/COINTELPRO COINTELPRO (Portmanteau derived from COunter INTELligence PROgram) (1956–1971) was a series of covert, and at times illegal, projects conducted by the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) aimed at surveilling, infiltrating, discrediting, and disrupting domestic political organizations. FBI records show that COINTELPRO resources targeted groups and individuals that the FBI deemed subversive including the Communist Party USA, anti-Vietnam War organizers, activists of the civil rights movement or Black Power movement (e.g. Martin Luther King Jr., Nation of Islam, and the Black Panther Party), feminist organizations, independence movements (such as Puerto Rican independence groups like the Young Lords), and a variety of organizations that were part of the broader New Left. The program also targeted white supremacist groups including the Ku Klux Klan and nationalist groups including Irish Republicans and Cuban exiles. According to Noam Chomsky, in another instance in San Diego, the FBI financed, armed, and controlled an extreme right-wing group of former Minutemen, transforming it into a group called the Secret Army Organization that targeted groups, activists, and leaders involved in the Anti-War Movement, using both intimidation and violent acts. COINTELPRO tactics are still used to this day, and have been alleged to include discrediting targets through psychological warfare; smearing individuals and groups using forged documents and by planting false reports in the media; harassment; wrongful imprisonment; and illegal violence, including assassination. Recently, documents show that the FBI still engages in COINTELPRO behavior by surveilling Black Lives Matter.
The CIA also had Operation Gladio, supported the Nicaraguan Contras, helped overthrow Allende, etc. Of course, the left can be violent. Terrorism in the 60s/70s was largely coming from them.
Unfortunately, they just reject the reality and claim 'stolen valor' and state that they're a crisis actor who never saw 'real combat'.
More politicians like him and we might actually start climbing back up to number 1.
"I like people who weren't run over" sounds exactly like the line I"d expect from the guy who keeps throwing his own people under the bus.
Bit of a bump but he released a pretty good ad https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8lLvh0Y0TTY Also is it just me or does he look like a young Jonathan Banks
