Bowsette babies coming your way!
Japan is going to make anime real.
Heterochromia for everyone!
tfw you weren't born late enough to grow up with a catgirl as a childhood friend
Anime girls and space marines aside, this is probably great for removing inherited diseases and stuff like that, even in our lifetime.
That feeling when you become an obsolete human
if a doctor told you that you could edit a gene to give your son an 8 inch dick, would you do it
This is tricky becaure if that is an option surely you can go bigger?
Japan really wants Solid Snake to be a thing.
I'm not sure if the growth of your dick is entirely based on your DNA sequence..
Why would my son need genetic manipulation to get fucked by me?
Well it isn't going to grow by just yelling at it
That's true, drinking lots of raw milk is important too
With animal moes too.
Someone bought up anime
But seriously this is going to have to be extremely heavily regulated so that nothing unethical is done.
I wonder if gene editing will disproportionately affect dark skinned people. Will people edit dark skin out of the human race?
Give DNA a binary switch for a read-only option.
Invasive things like retroviruses should not be able to zombify your cells anymore.
I'm pretty sure it's gonna be made illegal to edit any genes unrelated to diseases when it starts being practical.
What's the legal philosophy behind making that illegal?
Because eugenics is a really awful concept.
It'll be great to see be rid of shit like Muscular Dystrophy and Alzcheimer's. Those horrors have plagued my kin and too many of our world. To never see such again would bring me tears of joy.
I'm more worried about the kind of inequality it could create. Our civilization is not at the point where it can responsibly use this technology. The rich for example, could afford to breed super babies which are superior to us in every way. Imagine the poor just being left behind and unable to get a job because they don't have genetic enhancements.
Ok, first thing’s first, buhbye genetic diseases.
Secondly, and I stress a very very close second, cat girls.
I hope there's some good progress with this. As someone with NF1, I don't want to pass it down to any children I may have in the future.
Gattaca is gonna happen IRL
This is essentially the plot to Altered Carbon on Netflix.
You'll faint whenever you get erect with a giant dick since all the blood from the brain flows down there.
Perhaps for now, but no one can really predict future policies regarding gene editing and how the society shapes up to be.
Come year 4000 and maybe everyone is a homogenized, 8-inch dicked, super-handsome superhuman in an endless pursuit of pleausures and leisure with production and industry long since automated and controlled by super-intelligent A.I.
As is according to the dark prophesies of the far future. But basically, your guess is as good as mine when it comes down to predicting the future.
Good. I have a few fairly minor inherited diseases, and I think having the ability to write them out and not is extremely amoral. That's not to say the tech is ready for mass rollout yet, but that when it is anything less than wholesale use is very ethically questionable.
