Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has a huge grinding, microtransaction p.. “If your character goes from level six to seven, all of the animals and most of the nearby enemies will also jump from six to seven. This eliminates that moment where you instantly feel more capable and competent for a while after leveling up,” Gamesbeat stated. “I was making good progress with my character up until level 15. At that point, I had a story mission that required me to take on a level 17 assassin. That was so challenging that I decided to get to 17 myself first ... But it took me six hours to go from 15 to 17." ... The late game includes a brick wall that you can have to scale by leveling your character to a certain point. ... The permanent XP boost, which gives you 50 percent more XP for everything you do and works on all your saved games, is available for 1,000 Helix Credits. So how much do Helix Credits cost? We’re glad you asked. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/237476/bfc2cc86-b08d-441d-9622-e0e85fe12f22/Assassin_s_Creed__Odyssey_20181003093528.jpg
https://twitter.com/Polygon/status/1047151394917105664 Makes you perform a big thonk.
And they did so well with Origins. How do you fuck up this bad again?
after the first 15 hours Well by then I would've already quit playing the game...
Well there goes the argument that "Ubisoft's micotransactions are okay".
My two biggest gripes with Origins was the leveling system, which was just artificial padding that forced you to slow down the story's progression just to gain a couple levels, and the microtransactions which cut out content from the game and made end-game rewards far less satisfying. Good to see they bundled both into one nice tightly knit package of anal ravage.
That's Polygon, it probably took them 15 hours to finish the first mission. Remember their DOOM video?
Wait, they put microtransactions into it? I know that Ubisoft is low, but I thought they were one of the better AAA publishers currently. Really disappointing, I was actually quite excited for the new AC since it seems to be better than the other ones.
Man, sounds like Oblivion all over again. Reach a certain level, be rewarded with a new, super deadly tier of leveled enemies.
Microtransactions in single player games...
Origins had an option to turn on "Auto leveled enemies"(which I liked), so it seems like Odyssey has removed that?
Oh well. Was looking forward to playing it too after hearing Origins was a nice change of pace.
This is amazing, 50% XP boosts like free to play mobile games. Did anyone expect anything else to be honest?
It's Ubi$haft, If you're actually shocked, you're an idiot, frankly. They're always going to do this. Always every time. Forever. ANy company that would outright steal on of their dev's games and then fire them out of spite or renegotiate their contract over their head by buying a parent company has no qualms about goughing their customers. None. When games move to streaming and you pay 60 a month for the privilege of not owning any content but a permission token to suck their dick, they'll be fist in line on board until they can come up with their own version and charge you 120 a month, and you'll pay because you love the assass fappening breach tacticool goggle simulator 2027 season pass edition, because you probably shouldn't be having kids.
Id still play origins, the characters/story/gameplay was nice. Also the main character in origins is prolly the best since ac2. Really depressed they took a 180 and used the originally great systems to just brick wall you into microtransactions.
These used to be cheat codes, and they were free
Yes? Origins didn't have brick walls and the lvling/stat system was an extremely welcomed change of pace for AC. No one expected them to cripple the players into microtransactions using said systems because its been absent till now.
It is still the single most hilarious thing I've ever seen, and simultaneously the most pathetic.
Seeing things like this made me wish Vivendi bought them out after all, wouldn't have changed anything anyway.
The shareholders once again try to pry people's limits. They haven't learned from last time it seems
Wow, a permanent 50% XP boost on all save files? Sounds like that would actually harm the pacing of the game's progression... Unless, of course, they designed the game with deliberately sluggish and boring progression. Hmm.
Well, I won't be buying this. I'd actually considered it, too.
As with all major game releases, wait a year for the goty bundle that will probably come with this shit, or the inevitable post release unfucking of the game if the backlash is too harsh.

Frankly I'm glad about the direction they're taking the series in, mixing history with mythology with their weird pre-cursor race thing.
They didnt take that direction though? The serpent is part of a dream sequence, and the other 3 were cosmetic packs. The dlc is strictly magic fuckery with the pieces of eden.
Thanks overinflation of marketing budgets and dumping huge amounts of money into graphical fidelity.
In Origins, I'm currently riding around with a flaming sword that I got from some boss. Regardless of whether it's magic, dream sequence type stuff, or if you're looking at Odyssey which straight up just has Medusa in it, it certainly seems it kind of is.
Its explained its the animus doing it. Afterall, since blackflag its had game elements incorporated as glitches with the connection. Like if the person believes it, it fucks the program.
No, they're right. It's the customers who haven't learned. Half the people in this thread alone support Ubisoft, judging by the ratings on @27X 's post
