My phone didn't get it but it interrupted the whole class in the middle of a lecture. You can hear the echo throughout the building, it was pretty spooky.
I can't wait for everyone to get desensitized to that noise and miss out on potentially critical info because the idiot will be using it to mirror his Twitter tantrums.
NC here. Thought it was another Amber or Silver alert. Had 9 in the last month or so.. Then realized it was a child playing with the emergency broadcast system.
I am still banking on him using it to "voice his concerns".
I immediately had to call my grandmother afterwards to explain to her that they were testing the system. She got the alert as she was on the phone with me and admitted that the way it was worded would have caused her to panic.

I was oversleeping. The Trump alarm woke me up. If this becomes a constant problem, maybe it will actually get me on a proper schedule for once. I just rather it wasn't done by some mophead.

Did Trump even have anything at all to do with this? It was identical to the endless flash flood warnings i got this summer.
IIRC it was authorized during the Obama admin and is now first being put to use during Trump. People who think it's some dystopian way for Trump to tweet you are overreacting to an otherwise good idea. Broadcasting alerts are one of the best uses of everyone having a phone. We don't need sirens anymore because everyone has one in their pocket. People miss news about threats or dangerous situations all the time and end up dead. Stuff like this is one more safeguard against that. The nation wide presidential alert is operated by FEMA afaik and will only be used for grave emergencies like attacks or terrorism.
