Had to take one of these at work for a contest or something, was for a 5$ giftshop giftcard. was at 75 WPM with 98% accuracy. Supposed to get the winner this friday. :v
I usually write faster when i don't think. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/1089/e029d9e3-0299-42a8-9168-9e0f4835004f/image.png

I used to play 'typeracer' when at college and averaged about 190wpm. Fastest I've managed is 205wpm.
I'm sure I must have some level of dyslexia or problem, because I shouldn't see "dog class" and write "cog glass" https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/207366/575f5728-39b7-4d71-a48d-cc77a81e8b4b/and octo.png
God damn it I was gonna relax with my laptop in bed and now I feel like I must compensate. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/269840/e6e7a723-664e-4198-bb93-6277a57a5920/image.png
~30 wpm = turtle ~40 wpm = t-rex 41+ wpm = octopus kinda wish they have got more tiers also all of you are demons wtf
These fingers were made for sinning.
Got 66 on this but I know I type faster than that. Tests like these are kind of unfair in my opinion, usually when I type I don't have to LOOK and MAKE SURE I'm typing a prewritten word. I just write what's in my head.

I like how I learned the proper way to type entirely from playing MMOs and not actually from typing classes. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/107296/3c27bf8e-1d3d-448c-8e11-62a15537b22c/Capture.PNG

home row isn't what it's all cracked up to be. in keyboarding class in middle school i remember it actively made me a lot slower

It has its advantages and disadvantages. The potential for a higher speed ceiling is there for home row due to less travel time between keystrokes, and if one's muscle memory is used to it, usually less mistakes due to having an automatic association of the character with specific fingers and the keys on the keyboard, rather than the muscle memory of just remembering where the key is placed on the keyboard. It makes me slower too since I really just don't have the time to re-train myself to get used to home row after being self-taught on just using the computer everyday. Though I admit it does help in certain words since I can use all 10 fingers and get that entered without any mistakes so I have a bit of a weird combination where I retreat my hands to home row then just freely hover it for the majority of a paragraph. End of the day people have different preferences yeah, and as long as you don't feel like you're limiting yourself and still find room on always getting better, any sort of typing method works well. Plus the hunt & peck self taught style of typing is pretty much well suited for video games and editing, and becomes more flexible in different situations compared to home row which is more restrictive in the sense it's really made for pure typing.
how the fuck https://i.imgur.com/fxrf1XJ.png
For me it's because I have a bad habit of looking at my keyboard, and this doesn't allow that.
My work keyboard and home keyboard are different so I make more mistakes on both of them now. https://files.facepunch.com/forum/upload/239158/2e2c904a-ac58-4aa7-8f2b-2f09e971b894/image.png
