Physicist Dead At 96 After Selling Nobel Prize To Cover Medical ..
It's no surprise a man is going to die at 96
What should be a surprise is that a man sold his legacy for good health in a country that spends billions on military but "can't afford" basic universal healthcare. Here's the thing; after all this time, that isn't surprising either at this point.
American Healthcare is stupid as hell
This would likely be the case in even countries with socialized health care; at a certain age and a certain point of declining health, privatized healthcare is your only option regardless of nationality.
what are you basing this on?
Either stand for what you say or say nothing at all
Please either admit that you're mistaken, or explain what you mean.
That is literally what I did, I chose to say nothing at all and retracted my comment. There is nothing wrong with withdrawing.
Many countries with socialised/universal healthcare weigh the cost of a treatment against the potential benefits. When someone is that old and terminally ill it's often the case that palliative care becomes the recommended option and if you want anything more you have to pay for it yourself.
yeah i want you to explain to me your thoughts when you typed that comment cos it was dumb
Read the post directly above yours dude
You ought to read it too. It didn't say that you're kicked off the universal if you're too far out to possibly treat. It says you'll have your symptoms and pain treated until its time for you to go.
but then you get into the discussion of who is the government to tell you when it is time for you to "go", which I can see going downhill very quickly
Well here in Danmark the government is us the people, generally people are pretty confident about that. I can understand being really fucking skeptical of the government in the states though, since your politicians are basically an isolated elitist class.
For me it'd be a mathematical question, By the time you're spending thousands of bucks for the mere prospect of maybe increasing your lifespan by two or three months, it's no longer worth it.
