How does Tower Unite compare with Gmod Tower at its peak?
i'd say at its current state, including the Workshop update, it's absolutely getting closer and closer to being what GMT once was. its a ton of fun and i think it's definitely worth picking up if you were a fan of GMTower. here's a steam review i wrote about the game back in May, freshly updated to include the Workshop update.

The problem is the difference between GMT and TU is that you don't have to go through the lobby to play the minigames. People just start minigolf lobbies with their friends and never touch the lobby. Because of how limited GMT was, people were more incline to explore and socialize in the lobby, TU the lobby is usually empty besides the casino and it's lacking on the social side unless you already have friends to play with.
Nowhere near. GMT had about 100 players in a lobby and you're lucky to catch 50 in Tower Unite. Most people queue for gameworlds through the server browser and updates are really really infrequent.
I keep forgetting I backed this and everything. So glad to see progress being made!
I mean - it has plenty of potential. I really need a game where I can chill out and play minigames without any thought of time obligation. It just needs a lot of polishing.
Reminds me of the GM13 server browser, which was probably supposed to be an improvement but ended up as a terrible decision and another nail in the coffin
I think it's already surpassed GMT. The amount of ways you can customize your condo are pretty amazing, I saw this one guy who had a massive labyrinth for a house, with a door greeting stating that there are 15 hidden rooms throughout the house that all need the tiny potion to get into.
Only thing I feel it's really missing the most are the secrets, flash games, and small things like making smoothies that really fleshed out the game.
But this last update added custom furniture and playermodels, and it's really made the game that much better

The pastabilities are endless
It's not even that you had to go through the lobby to play the minigames, but you had to wait for the minigame to be finished to play it. So if you wanted to play Minigolf and a game was already going on, you'd have to dick around the lobby until the game was finished.
I hope the devs impliment what they did with GMT to get folks to hang around more places around the lobby. Do auto-events that give money if participated around the map. Just like how one got GMC when a bar-fight or chainsaw battle happened.
There already are a couple of those, along with miscellaneous events such as characters showing up randomly around the lobby that give you free items.
They really need things like the chainsaw battle, though. The current games that pop up on the lobby are pretty bland and basic.

dasbaby (one of the AE86s in the video) showed me his condo a few weeks ago and it was amazing and that was *before* this update so im sure its even better now
Oh lord, I think I know the condo you're talking about. It was 15 hidden hentai porn rooms. It was so odd, if you found them all he put your name on the greeting board. It was some REALLY weird shit haha.
This video inspired me to try it out again for the first time in like six months. Joined a random condo which turned out to be filled to the brim with furry porn and shitposting. One of the residents promptly guided me to a cave which made fun of the trapped children in thailand.
